Your next plan of action should be to let the printer reset its self. Unplug the printer for a few minutes then plug it back in. Turn printer on and try to print something. If this does not work then what i would do is use add remove programs and remove the software and drivers for the printer and re install them again. Read and use the manufactures recomended way of installing your new printer. Start off with printer unplugged and usb unplugged then begin as if you bought it brand new. I cant stress enough how important following the manufactures instructions are.

Mfc7340 will not print--it was working just fine and then it errors out. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it shows ready but errors out

Hello ,

First, please make sure there is no error message displayed on the LCD screen of the printer

Now we will check the status of your printer in the printers menu in the control panel.
The printer’s status should be set to “ready”
If the printer is “paused” simply clear the print queue, right click on the printer and select “resume printing”.

If the printer says “offline”, follow these steps.
  1. Clear the printer queue
  2. Shut down the computer
  3. Unplug the USB cable from your computer and your printer
  4. Unplug the power cable from the printer and wait 15 seconds
  5. Plug the USB cable back into the printer and the computer.
  6. Plug the printer’s power cable back in.
  7. Turn your computer back on.

Your printer status should be back to ready now and you are able to print.

Thank you,

When I try to print, get error message-error offline. How do I fix this?

If you have no errors on the printer, the printer must have ink and paper and a ready or green light on. After that, go to control panel, printers, and right click on your printer icon. make sure it is checked as the default printer, and if it says offline, click on use printer online. If there are no errors on the printer you should be ready to print.

Dell 3100cn Printer

Hi Lillie,

No, the message for RAM disk has nothing to do with your issue. RAM disk is an option for that printer, but most users do not have that option, and if you accessed the menu for the 3100 on most of the machines in use you would receive that same error.

Although the printer itself shows " ready to print", this does not mean that your computer is communicating with the printer. In Fact, that message would show up even if you did not have it attached to any computer, as long as it was turned on and passed the self test.

More then likely the problem lies within the computer, NOT the printer.

To test the printers functionality, try printing a menu item, from the "reports" menu. Select either the printer settings, or the PCL Fonts report. When selected, the printer should print which ever report you selected.

One thing you may want to check is to see if there are any print jobs " locked up " in the print spooler on your computer, and also make sure that the printer is not set to "work offline".

To do this, open the control panel, go to your "printers" folder, then double click on your printer.
This will open up the printer information for that printer. If there are any jobs in the print queue, they will show up here.

if there are any print jobs stacked up, usually it is the top job that had a problem and is "stuck". This will prevent any job sent after that to be held, pending release of that one.

single click the top job and either restart the job, or delete it.

Also, make sure that the printer is not set to work offline by clicking on "printer" from the menu and ensure that work offline is not checked.

Good luck.
