You need more memory and a faster machine. Better yet get a machine will all that wi-fi stuff built in. The add on solution needs a lot of tinkering.

This happens when the wireless network card fails to get an IP address from the wireless router.
To get the router to issue your wireless network card with a new IP address, right click on the wireless card icon on the task bar and click Repair.

My router does not connect to my desktop or my laptop, why?

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router's wireless settings configured and also the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

I am not able to install driver for D-link wifi card

The card could be bad. I've found over the years that most of these desktop wireless cards work best when the software is installed before the card is installed. Meaning uninstall all the software. Turn off the machine. Remove the wireless card. Turn back on the machine. Install the software. Once installed, shut down the machine. Install the card. Turn back on the machine and lets Windows find the card and the software.

Not detecting any wireless networks

You have not mentioned having a wireless router or access point to serve as the hub on an infrastructure network. I you have a router please let me know -- the instructions for the solution changes.

The following is an article to create an ad hoc network between wireless cards without a wireless access point or a router. If you ignore the steps about connecting to the internet with a wired connection and the internet sharing instructions. This will allow your machines with wireless adapters to communicate with each other (assuming the operate on a common band). The article goes on to indicate one machine with a wired connection can act as the "router" for the other two when it is on to allow them share internet access with the wired machine (the wired machine also needs a wireless card for this to work).
