Radio is switched on vibrates and goes directly to a blank screen
As the subject suggest im having a few problems with my cobra radio and would be extremely grateful for some help, bought these radios a week ago one of them works fine but the other is not. As the radio is switched on it vibrates and goes straght to a lit up screen nothing else appears and nothing else happens, i have replaced the batteries for brand new ones and that has not fixed the problem.

What you describe is not standard for this radio. It should receive as good as any of the others you have. Are you sure you have all the knobs and switches set right. This radio is more complicated to operate than the previous versions. I personally do not operate one of the new LXs but I do seem to recall they have a RF Gain knob. This should be turned clockwise all the way. Look through the manual. You will be surprised and some of the features the radio has you didn't know about.
Almost always, the problem here is that the micro switch for the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button has failed. Your radio should have a warranty, but even if the warranty has run out, it isn't horribly spendy to fix. I'd get in touch with Cobra Electronics, I have heard they're extremely helpful. The first place to look when you can only get out no more than two miles is your ground plane. To check this, use a multimeter and do an resistance check between the antenna mount and multiple points on your vehicle. This is a common problem on mobile units.
This was extremely difficult to find but I have located the manual for you on these walkie talkies. It will be easiest to just use the manual and follow the instructions. If you still have questions or problems please respond here and I will get back to you. Please rate my answer 4 thumbs up here on the site, it is very important to me. I would be forever grateful. Here is the manual:
Most units do NOT allow modulation adjustment as any more than 90-100% modulation causes adjacent channel signal "Splatter" therefore is subject to restrictions, hence generally that is locked. Also there really is no reason to have more than 100% modulation..as well ... why? I would suggest a voice/speech "Compressor" would be more suited.
Sounds like the radio was subjected to electrostatic discharge. If you have your manual, and it describes a way to do a "master reset" on the radio, follow the instructions. This usually involves pushing down on one key while turning the radio on. Otherwise you have to find a licensed dealer for factory service, as there is no way to repair the radio yourself. The use of surface mount technology still confuses many Techs unless they have been to a company's two or three week seminars.
Dear sir, u need to clean the battery terminals/. Battery chemicals creates an internal circuitary & causes drain of batteryu at faster rate soem times 12 times faster than normal .. , best way to do is
open all screws , then wash the radio with iso-propyle alcohol..& a brush let it dry fully then assemble the same . I hope u will be able to get gud back up time .
