If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

This sounds like a videochip ( hardware ) problem. If it persist go to an Apple service provider, hopes they will solve it and hopefully the Macbook is still under their guarantee time.
Hello Cathy, The "AF" means auto focus, The pink screen and the lines are a camera fault, you are going to need the camera checked to see what the internal problem is, it is not something that you are doing wrong, it is the camera.
A pink or red color on the screen indicates the back light bulbs are failing. The bulbs are just small florescent bulbs like used in your home or office lights. When they start to go out they put our red or pink light instead of white light. You can order the bulbs and replace them in the unit if you want to repair it. You can get the bulbs from http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/lampfinder.html But this repair is very time consuming because the lights are very fragile and you have to fully disassemble the LCD panel in the monitor to replace the bulbs.
If you have a LCD-screen, not an old-style CRT-screen, it is the data-cable, and its connections, that are not transmitting one of the 3 "primary" colours, e.g., mix red & blue & green to get white,
but mix only two of those colours, and you could get pink,
because the mixing is an "additive" process.
If you mix NONE of the 3 primary colours, you should get BLACK.
If you see GREEN, you're seeing ONE of the primary colours.
Sounds like your panel might be going out or a faulty video card. This is the first time I have heard of a solid pink screen on a plasma. Usually this happens on LCDs, though they sometimes go white and stay white, which does signal a bad panel. tv needs repair
