Question about Sony KP-51WS510 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Lenses I'm replacing the lenses on a sony KP-51WS510 rear projection tv. I need to know in what order do the lenses go into the frame. I put the plastic clear screen all the way in the front, the thick plastic looking screen with the swirls behind it, and then the black looking thin screen behind that. The image on the tv when turned on is not correct. Can anybody tell me the proper order to install the lenses?

The screen with the "swirls" on it is the fresnel lens and that is the one that goes in back then the lenticular lens goes next (it has the feel of a grid to it). Then the screen proetector goes on the very front. The fresnel lens only works installed one way. On Sony TV's look for the orange tag with the part number on it and put that to the lower right facing outword and usually 99% of the time this is how they go back in.

Sony KP-51WS510 51 in. Rear Projection Keeps blinking 5 times. The red and green projectors are working fine, but the blue is not working. Sears service replaced the power supply, and the first board, then...

You may want to recheck your connections coming off the blue tube to the board. Also check the IC links/Pico fuses on the power board. I have a repair manual for this Tv if you need it. [email protected]

D board is Deflection Board and has convergence ICs qty 02. If tv has problem of convergence, either you need to replace complete board or replace defective parts ( STK ICs) check IC8001 & IC8002 in D board.
If you have electronics knowledge and experience of tv repair, you can make it.
Related service manual of product made things easy because of information, parts location, applied voltages, part numbers and descriptions etc.
Need further help, let me know to provide you more info.
Thank you.

If you are facing the front of your TV, the red CRT is on your left. To get access to remove the CRT assembly, you will need to remove the speakers cover and one more wood or plastic cover that is protecting the CRTs.

Convergence IC replacement

some have plastic clips that need to be pressed back to release the board. There should also be 6 screws holding the D board to its frame.
