Bernina 165 touchscreen not working

The touchscreen on my Bernina 165e is not responding. It is sort of greyed out - not as clear as it used to be but when I push it - there is no response. Any suggestions on a fix?

It sounds like you may have two problems - one is easy, but without the other, its hard !!! If the touchscreen isn't working, it may simply be mis-calibrated and cant be accessed. To recalibrate the touchscreen from scratch, switch the machine on whilst, at the same time, pressing both of the two needle position buttons - the calibration screen should then come up and you should touch the screen where the dots are shown to recalibrate it. If, pressing the dots does not do anything, the probability is that your touch overlay or main control board is faulty, in which case you will need to take it to your Bernina agent. If you manage to re-calibrate the touchscreen OK, switch the machine off and back on again and if the display is still very grey but readable, you can adjust the contrast of the display by pressing the button with an arrow facing right, inside a box - this will take you to the user adjustment menu. Touch the display button that has a symbol with three vertical bars of different shades of grey and this will take you to a display that allows the brightness and contrast to be adjusted - touch the up or down buttons to get the best display contrast and once this is done, you should be all working again. Good Luck

Thanks for the solution. I was able to get to the calibration screen but nothing else happened. When I turned it off and back on again I still have the same problem so, I guess I'll have to pack it up and take it to the closest Bernina shop. Living in Turkey, this is not easy! Thanks again.

Bernina 830 : How to calibrate the touchscreen through service menu ?

To access the service menu on your Bernina 830, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Hold down the Reverse and Needle Down buttons, then plug the machine back in while holding these buttons.
  3. Continue to hold down the Reverse and Needle Down buttons until the service menu appears on the screen.
From here, you should be able to navigate the service menu using the arrow keys on your machine. To access the calibration option, you will need to select the "Touch Test" option from the menu.
Unfortunately, without a working touchscreen, it may be difficult to navigate the service menu. One option may be to try using an external USB keyboard, as you suggested. However, this may not be compatible with the Bernina 830, so it's not guaranteed to work.
If you're unable to access the service menu or calibrate the touchscreen, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with the machine that needs to be addressed by a professional technician.

How can I access the Service program soft keys on my Bernina 830 when the Touchscreen is not calibrated ? The soft keys on the screen have either letters or numbers, can I attach a keyboard ?

If the touchscreen on your Bernina 830 sewing machine is not calibrated, it may be difficult to access the Service program soft keys. However, you may still be able to access the Service program using the following steps:
  1. Turn off your Bernina 830 sewing machine.
  2. Hold down the Reverse button and the Needle up/down button simultaneously.
  3. While holding down these buttons, turn on the sewing machine.
  4. Continue to hold down the Reverse and Needle up/down buttons until the Service program screen appears.
  5. Once you are in the Service program, you can navigate using the numbered soft keys that appear on the screen.
As for attaching a keyboard, it is not possible to directly connect a keyboard to the Bernina 830 sewing machine. However, some users have had success using a USB to Serial adapter to connect a keyboard to their sewing machine. This method may require additional software and configuration to work properly, and it is not officially supported by Bernina.

Touchscreen is not responding Bernina Deco 600, machine has not been in use for a while can that be the problem?

I've read elsewhere that machines that have been idle for quite some time will take a while to turn on. The recommendation was to turn it on and leave it on for several hours.

Trying to connect a Bernina 165 to a Dell computer running Windows XP Pro in order to use machine embroidery. All of the four ports (COM 1, 2, 3 or 4) say the port is engaged. Previously, with an older...

Please check the Bernina website software upgrades for a solution. I use XP Home and have no problem but there was a software upgrade download for my Artlink version and also for the security key for the Bernina Designer 4.0 to install to make it work.
