SOURCE: Can't get internet access through NetGear DG834G Router

You have to configure your router...

If your ISP provided you with IP Address, enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway IP address anbd DNS IP address for your broadband router.

If you connect to the Internet using an xDSL Modem and your ISP has provided you with a Password and a Service Name, then your ISP uses PPPoE to establish a connection. You must enter the required information.

Hope this could help..

SOURCE: netgear DG834G v3 Installation

connect the yellow (or blue?) ethernet cable to your computer, this should connect to the router (router should be ON)

Now, in internet explorer type 192.168.0.1 (this should be the defualt gateway for the router on default settings.

Now you're into the router, there should be a setup wizard button in there.

See if you can set it up using that

SOURCE: Netgear DG834G with xbox360

Connect to the Router,
Under the Security tab, select Services, then add, give it the name XBOX TCP/UDP, set start port as 3074 and end port as 3074, set type as TCP/UDP, click apply/ok. Do this again, giving it the name XBOX UDP, start port 88, end port 88, type UDP, then apply settings.

Now go to Firewall under the Configuration tab, under incoming click add, now select the service XBOX UDP/TCP from the drop down menu. select forward to specific IP address or similar and type in your Xbox's IP address e.g. 192.168.1.5, click log never, then apply ok. Do the same for XBOX UDP and your again click apply. That's it! you've successfully opened the necessary ports on your Router and told your Router that any incoming info on those ports should be sent to your Xbox.

SOURCE: iPhone keeps dropping wifi signal on Netgear DG834G router.

Hi, please perform the below steps to configure settings on the router:

1. Connect a computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
2. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
3. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
5. Click on WAN setup from left menu. Check the box for 'Disable Dos Protection'.
6. Set the MTU size to 1400. Click apply.

I have just changed from a Netgear DG834G V4 to a Netgear N150 (Supplied by Orange) Router and the signal is now virtually non existant in parts of the house (upstairs and further away downstairs rooms)...

Netgears products are terrible with non support what so ever. I'm sure you had change your router already, but if your ISP could provide you with a different brand, the problem will disappear.

I have two netgear routers and wondered if i can make them work together to extend my wireless internet range e.g. using them as repeaters (rather than having only one turned on depending on the area of...

i dont believe you can do such thing but you could run two routers and log onto each individually. Just like your at home using the laptop and you go to a friends 20 miles away and you take your laptop and it will recognize his wireless allowing access.

I cannot get wirelessconect to my laptop from my netgear modem router DG834G.I can see the signal but unable to connect

check whether the dhcp option is turned on in ur wireless router. if its turned off, change it to on state and try. u will be able to connect. still if u din get access. use some other lap to connect to ur wireless network. if it is possible to connect with someother lap, then the problem is with ur lap. the wifi drivers might get corrupted. re-install it to fix the problems. if all above doesn't gets work, then the problem is with ur wireless router.

Can I extend my internet range with a netgear & a Belkin router

DG834G is a modem/router, it is not a range extender that could extend the range of the wireless signal from the Belkin router.

Connecting lap top

If this is a new router you will find everything you need in the router's manual. You will need that to set up the WEP key. If the router has been used wirelessly before, then you will need the WEP key to set up the connection through the windows wireless connection wizard. If you don't know the WEP key, you will have to connect to the router with a cat-5 cable and access the router that way with your internet browser to find the WEP key, or generate a new one. You'll need to type in the router's IP address in the address bar of the browser.
