Hi my sp-310 has a lens problem when i turn it on the lens goes in and out then retracks and says zoom error. if i tap the camera it works fine. i just put a new memory card in will that cause a problem?

No the memory card is not the problem .... the internal gears or blocks which intialises the lens may have been dislocated due to which this problem is occuring ,..... it has to be fixed from a repairman ,....

Unfortunately this is a repair issue with the camera. You may want to call Olympus Customer Service to discuss their repair policy and procedures. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.
I just pulled my 320 out after not using it for 4 months and the lens extended and zoom error began flashing on the screen. After reading a few other post on the net about how much it cost I decided the camera was a goner. For good measure I banged it on my mouse pad a couple times and the lens suddenly retracted and it is now working fine. Doubt it will work very often but might be worth a try. Make sure you hit it on something soft to prevent other damage.
