Same problem, bit more complicated

Same problem with the whole detecting excellent signal but no internet. I was able to solve that by restarting the computer, restarting the modem, and then repair the wireless signal; but the problem here is that every time somebody calls our phone, the internet stops working. So basically I have to do the whole process again every time the phone rings.

Sandrew's solution works if you have DSL

However, if you have dialup access, you need to set up your software to dial *70 before dialing the Internet service. This will block the call-waiting signal from ciming through and disrupting your service.

Are you using a cordless phone? -If yes, check if the phone operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -Change the channel on your cordless phone if it operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -If changing the channel does not work, try getting a cordless phone which operates on a different frequency band.

This is a case of an incorrectly fitted or faulty filter. One of these should be fitted to every socket where a telephone is used, as they enable land line and the adsl connection to run at the same time.

Connected wireless to router, excellent signal, but unable to connect to internet.

connected to wireless router with excellent signal may not means you are connected to internet. make sure your modem provided by internet service provider has signal! connect your computer to modem directly bypassing router. If you are online that means your internet is functional. Then connect modem to your Linksys router and use your wireless to log on to internet.
Your router wireless signal active and excellent means you are connected to router not necessarily the internet. The modem supplied by your internet service provider with active internet should be connected to you router on WAN port!
good luck!!

Flicker prob

Welcome to Fixya.
Firstly, is it detecting your wireless router? Is the wireless switch on?
Try to restart both the laptop and the wireless router. Wait for 2 minute then start it again. Check whether you have a wifi signal on the buttom right on the screen. Put your cursor on the signal and go to network and sharing. It should say local and internet. or connected excellent . If not, try to type in cmd right click and hit run as administrattor. then type in ipconfig /all check the ipaddress and default gateway. if its a valid ipadress like 192.168.1.1 for linksys. and default gateway is the same. Check your internet explorer. Ping www.yahoo.com get a 4 packet sent = 4 packet received. . If the ipadress is 169.1.0. 254.. you need to go to cmd/ ipconfig /all then netsh winsock reset catalog; or check this website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

Hope this resolved your issue.
Thanks for contacting Fixya. Bye for now.

In Vista : Start>Default programs
Controls to send mail might be missing missing or disabled or there are errors when you try to mail.

when u get this error message "General Mail Failure " The "E-mail" command is missing or is unavailable, see

Graphics driver

Since you're running WinXP, I'm going to assume that your PC is most likely equipped with a P4 processor.
My suggestion would be to get a whole new PC. A new pc costs about $400 for just a basic set up.
