Same problem with the whole detecting excellent signal but no internet. I was able to solve that by restarting the computer, restarting the modem, and then repair the wireless signal; but the problem here is that every time somebody calls our phone, the internet stops working. So basically I have to do the whole process again every time the phone rings.
Sandrew's solution works if you have DSL
However, if you have dialup access, you need to set up your software to dial *70 before dialing the Internet service. This will block the call-waiting signal from ciming through and disrupting your service.
Are you using a cordless phone? -If yes, check if the phone operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -Change the channel on your cordless phone if it operates on the 2.4 Ghz band. -If changing the channel does not work, try getting a cordless phone which operates on a different frequency band.
This is a case of an incorrectly fitted or faulty filter. One of these should be fitted to every socket where a telephone is used, as they enable land line and the adsl connection to run at the same time.
