Run you antivirus program

If CTRL+ESC didn't make it come back, then the program that displays the task bar most likely isn't running.

That program is often called the "Windows Shell", but it's really "explorer.exe". It's the program that not only displays the Taskbar, but also responds to the CTRL+ESC sequence.

The workaround: press CTRL+ALT+DEL to fire up the Task Manager. Now on the File menu, select New Task (Run...). Type in "explorer" and press OK. That should restart explorer and re-display your Taskbar.

hope this helps

The taskbar disapeared

Press CTRL+ESC. If your Taskbar magically reappears, then it's probably simply been resized too small, repositioned somewhere you didn't expect it, or perhaps it's beneath another application that's running full-screen on your computer.

The workaround? Press CTRL+ESC to access the Taskbar.

How to get the task bar to it natural size?

It is possible to make the task bar taller than it is by default, and this is the only way that I know of to change the size of the task bar, so I have to assume that you are asking how to take the task bar back down to the original "tallness." You would put your mouse cursor at the top of the task bar until it turns into a double-headed arrow, and then click down and drag the top edge toward the bottom of the screen until it is the normal height. If the task bar is locked, this cannot be done, so make sure it is unlocked by right-clicking on an empty spot on the task bar and make sure that "lock task bar" is not checked first.

Sidebar has suddenly moved to side affecting size of screen. How do I return it to bottom???

You are probably talking about the windows Task bar that normally resides at the bottom of the screen:
.
Two ways of moving this task ba, to top/bottom/letft/right position of the display:
  1. Move the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar, usually in the largest blank area towards the right, click and hold the right mouse button and drag the Task bar to the bottom of the screen.
  2. Go to the Task Bar 'Properties' (You can get this context menu by clicking the left mouse button after putting the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar) and change the 'Task bar location on screen' option.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

Loaded DVO on Vista and it will not open to screen

What do I do if Cook'n won't open or it has disapeared?

  1. First you should check to see if Cook'n is being minimized to the bottom of your screen. If it is simply right click on it and choose "Maximize" or "Restore"
  2. If it is not in the tool bar at the bottom of your screen then we need to go into the "Task Manager"
  3. To get into the "Task Manager" hold Alt+Ctrl+Delete all at the same time (if you have vista you will have to then select task manager)
  4. Look under the "Applications" tab and see if you can see Cook'n running. If it is running right click on it and choose either "Maximize", "Restore", or "Bring to front"
  5. If Cook'n Opens then you can close out of the "Task Manger" and close out of Cook'n
  6. Then Right click on the icon of Cook'n (strawberry) and choose properties. Then 2/3 the way down it will say run "normal window" you should change that to "run maximized" then click OK
  7. You can then try to open Cook'n Again and it should open just fine. If you continue to have problems please email [email protected]

Home Screen Problem

Hi,
Try reloading explorer.
To do this press Ctrl, Alt + Del, select task manager, when task manager opens up click on the processes tab and look down the list for explorer.exe, highlight that and click on end task, the desktop will disapear but don't worry about that. In the task manager window click on file, from the list select new task (run) and type in the box explorer and click ok. The desktop will return and try using a short cut.
If the shortcuts still won't work you could have a virus or malware on the computer.
If this is the case please post back with which operating system you are using.

Good luck.

Microsoft publisher 2003 logo and navigation bar disapear

I am having a simular problem, but it seems it is with ie 8. As long as I use ie 7 or firefox, I don't have the problem. You might try going to tools and the options and web tab and then make sure to take the check mark out of the "rely on VML for faster graphics downloading" and take the check out of "allow PNG as a graphics format to improve graphics quality"

Virtual PC will not open

If you have Windows 7, 'native' Virtual PC will only be available and functional, regardless of the icon on task bar, if you have: 1) Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate 2) Hardware Virtualization 3) Your PC/Laptop BIOS has support for hardware Virtualization and you have enabled it. If you have all the above pre-requesite, I suggest that you re-download XP Mode and VPC from Microsoft site. If you do not meet the above requirements, you can always install a (free) alternate such as Microsoft VPC 2007 SP1 or better still (e.g. has USB support) VirtualBox. Hope it helps. Let me know how you go.

It's possible your task bar is hidden on bottom
just drag the bottom line of your screen upward
Check if your task bar properties are set to "hide the task bar" remove the setting
