Canon MP970 Problem - printed disc or picture comes out faded ??

My fancy-schmancy printer is not printing to the quality it usually does. Suddenly it is not printing the color as it should, probally only using about half the color as it should be, images are coming out faded and colors incorrect. I have tried turning it all off and disconnected, then reinstalled the printer, it made no difference. Doesn't even matter if I scan and print (not using the computer connection). PLEASE HELP ME !! PS The only thing that is different, is that I now have some (not Canon) inkcartridges in there, but I have done for awhile now.

When I print pictures from an email they come out very faded...Have used good photo paper and it still comes out faded... I have PIXMA MP150

When you select print, select the printer properties box next to the name of the printer. In here there should be a quality or resolution setting. Increase this setting for a better image.Canon (Skywell and G&G are good also) Should give great results, but some "alternatives" are very bad in colour.
Hope this Helps GM

When printing my pictures come out looking light and faded. How do I get bright colors?

you might use a different/better type of photo paper or
you might save the photos before you print them into my pictures where you might be able to select a higher resolution usually from a drop down list in the print preview to print these photos this may depend on your operating system and you canon pixma utilitys

After numerous cleaning cycles the nozzles on my Pixma MP970 still show streaked patterns when printing the nozzle check. This printer has always has had poor print quality mainly black text. We got it as...

It will need a new printhead, QY6-0062-000, around $80.00. Leaving it sit and not printing just makes the problem worse, as more nozzles on the printhead get plugged. You get 90 day warranty with refurbished units and if it started out crappy you should have had a shop look at it, that model can print super photos! A new printhead will bring it back to life.

Poor print quality .... Canon Pixma MP140 ...

Paper quality does make a difference in the quality of print, but it's usually in the areas of blurriness and vibrance. If your prints are coming out faded, the quality for your prints might be set to 'economy', which doesn't use very much ink. If you have it set for 'quality' prints, I would try replacing the ink cartridges.

Printing pictures

If your normal print looks OK, make sure that you are printing your pictures on the correct side of the photo paper. Most photo paper will only print properly on one side. If you print on the other side, the image looks very grainy and faded, and the ink will still be quite wet when it comes out of the printer.
