Canon Printer Problem : paper twists to right when loading
When pressing PRINT the paper at back of printer twists as it enters printer - it seems to pull too much at bottom right corner and stops printing with a PAPER JAM dialog box.
I have tried every maintence procedure from Printer utility app and cleaned printer, held it upside down and shook it, and tried different brands of 80 thickness paper.
The printer still works fine as it can do CD covers still.
It just keeps twisting paper on entry.
My next course of action will be to drop a large rock on it.
BTW printer has worked flawlessly for 18 months with no trouble
Re: Canon Printer Problem : paper twists to right when...
Have the same problem I'd love to kick the s**t out of the person who designed this piece of rubbish I'll never buy anything by canon again. Had to refrain from launching the printer out the f**ckin window.

Here is what I've found out by trial and error.
Paper Roll Won't Load:
-Usually occurs when the roll is less than 50% full
-Printer will give the error "paper loaded askew"
To Correct This:
- Press and hold Stop until Job Cancel comes up on the
- Press Menu
o Scroll Down until Adjust Printer menu comes up
o Press right side arrow next to OK button
o Scroll down to Manual Band Adjust and press right side
arrow again (or select one of the other adjustments)
- Select Yes and press OK
- Load paper roll - make sure paper is straight
- When asked (printer will beep) select Plain Paper and
- Let paper load
- When printer starts to print press and hold Stop to cancel
- Paper should now be loaded
When all else fails load a new roll.
This would be a temporary solution until the sensor is fixed.
It turns out that if you read the documentation VERY carefully it says that "if the application program specifies 8.5x11 plain paper and that is what is loaded in the front cassette you cannot print from the rear tray". It turns out that this is true even if you go to the printer driver and specify "rear tray" manually. The driver disregards the setting. You can force printing plain paper from the rear tray by going to the Canon "My Printer" icon and forcing ALL printing from the rear tray. If you do this, remember to change it back. You can also print plain paper from the rear tray if you specify the "allocation" option and the paper from the front cassette runs out. You can always print from the rear tray if the application that created the print job specifies something other than 8.5x11 without resorting to the forced override, e.g. printing a .jpg or .gif or something from an application like Paintshop or Printshop, etc.
