You can purchase a similar fan from Radio Shack for $12.99. To open the unit you will need to remove 3 crews from the top of the unit toward the rear and two screws on the back of the unit. You will also need to remove the two threaded connectors on each side of the console port. Then just slide the top of the unit off. Take the old fan into Radio Shack and buy a similar fan. The amps and rpms will not match exactly, but that will be fine, just get fan within a ma of your current fan. Should only take about 10 minutes to do this repair yourself.

There is no listing for the fan IQ Air uses in its units, but you could pull the fan unit from the case and match it to one of the many fan motors at this site:www.emotorstore.com/
Yes, all the purchaser needs to do(or you can do this beforehand) is reset all configurations to factory settings. Usually there is a hole where you need a pin to punch through and keep it there for about 10 seconds. Or there is an option on the screen.
Don't knock yourself out. Just install a good known working computer fan that works, hook it up to a 12 volt dc power supply that you hook up to receiver's switched power output, and the fan will turn on when you turn on the receiver.
I would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for parts. You can find their contact information through their website at: http://www.cobraelectronics.com.
