Three of the most common causes for this would be:
- A worn spark plug (solution: replace spark plug)
- A clogged fuel filter (solution: clean or replace filter)
- Oil level too low/high (solution: check level, add or remove oil)

There are many videos available online that should help you fix this yourself. If none of these help, you should take the generator to your local dealer/shop.

On the ev6010 Honda generator the posive starter wire is black and was accidently hooked up to the chassis ground wire. Then the start button was pushed and nothing happened. I corrected the wire hookup to the positive side but will not start still

check your coil

Is the ignition switch turned to "ON" . Is it full of oil?

Change spark-plug and take bowl off carberator and spray with B-12 carb. cleaner.

check pulse generator circuit for any opens or shorts..even if you still show a weak purplish/red spark its bad..it must be a big bluish/white spark..check plug #1 for spark and then check #3 foe spark if there both week then its your pulse generators that are bad ..but if one of them has a blushish spark then it that systems coil..eg #1and#4 or the #2and #3 coils..

First make sure that you have a spark; remove the spark plug and position it so that the threads are touching the engine frame. Pull the cord and check the plug for spark. If you have spark, put the plug back in.

Get some starting fluid and spray it into the air intake of the carbuerator. Try to start the engine. If it starts and then stops, that indicates that you have a fuel delivery problem. Clean the fuel filter.
