We have a VS197 monitor, it we get a VGA message saying no signal, we just bought a new VGA cable and when the screen goes black after it is sitting for a bit, it comes back to that message
Hi Penny. Sorry for the delay but I just saw this question now.
In your question you posted that you bought a brand new VGA cable, so I guess this will be use with a PC Desktop.
A lot of time there could be something corrupted in the motherboard. The only way to troubleshoot this is to take the whole computer apart, and install just one piece of hardware at a time. Here is an example:
Take PC apart, memory stick, HDD, Optical drive, etc... Unplug the AC Power, press the power button for 10 seconds.
Take the memory stick and clean the golden edges with a pencil eraser. Once that is done, and if you have 2 memory stick, install just one memory stick, install the HDD. Do not install anything else and turn it on to see if there is any display. If not, swaps the memory stick and try again. If not, turn it on without the HDD. If nothing works, there could be a problem with the BIOS.
To clean or reset the BIOS, you have to look for a jumper in the motherboard. The bridge where the jumper is hook, have 3 pins, but it's connected to only 2 pins, just move the jumper to the other 2 pins and turn on the PC, this will reset the BIOS to factory default.
Also make sure the battery that is in the motherboard is charge, this will also give a headache if it have no charge.
