You wrote me on nov 12th in reference to the N2 bypass-this is what you wrote:
You can still perform the bypass internally. The N2 is done by connect the two points under the VOID sticker and the N1 will have to be taken apart completely. Unless you are a pro, I would recommend that you have it done professionally. Sound like someone tried and put too much solder and then cleaned up but also took out the pin. If you need I can perfome the bypass or if you have enough guts I can walk you through it. The instruction is sellling on Ebay for about $10. Unless you are really technically incline it very easy to fry your unit beyond repairable. Goodluck.
I'd like to see, if you explain it to me, if I could do it. I dont have a solder gun or anything like that, but if you told me what i needed and how to do it, I could either do it myself, or have some1 do it. Thing is, the guy i took it to was only gonna charge me $30. So if you tell me how to do it, if i cant do it, i'll have a guideline to give to someone else so they can do it. Thanks!
I think you should let who ever do it for $30. Because the procedure take about 1 hour or longer for a professional. You have to strip it down to the bare mother board and the solder points are smaller than a pin tips packed with tiny components with only hair line space in between. Beside that you can rip the ribbon cable and/or knock your laser assemblies out of alignment and countless of other things can go wrong like tiny micro springs, switches and gears can pop out of place with a slightest touch. But if you still want to give it a try, you can find the instructions, pictures and diagrams on avic411.com forum. You just have to look through it, but it is there. I had to pay for my from Ebay, and I am a master solder tech and it is still is challenging everytime I do it. Goodluck.

The original Avic N1 only needed to have the parking brake wire grounded for video in motion. Then, the latter series came out and on the underside of the in-dash unit, they have a foil sticker that needed to be removed and a jumper carefully soldered on the circuit board. Avic N2's had a switch installed under this sticker to avoid people from making soldering mistakes. I think the N2 brain may be looking for an N2 unit and giving you trouble. more info on this subject is available @ www.avic411.com.

solder two points under the silver sticker on the bottom of the head unit (pay a pro! don't mess up your deck!) then you ground the light green parking brake wire (attach it to the black ground wire coming out if the same harness) this will give you "full function". i have this unit and have the upgrade, it works.
underneath the mounting bracket of the radio not the brain theres a silver sticker like mentioned above there are two silver solder points right beneath the sticker it must be jumped with a wire or you can use the solder to connect the two contact points after this you must still ground the green parking brake wire to the car.
2nd-(also my favorite choice and the one I'm using on my N5 & on my 7800dvd those who know pioneer know what i'm talking about)
buy a ptr7 pheriphial device and wire as follows (they come factory ready to bypass alpine and pioneer units)
wire as follows-white wire to green parking break of the deck your bypassing
red wire to vehicles 12v source
green wire from device to remote
black wire to vehicle ground wire
final important step I know because this happended to me
make sure you take a little screwdriver agfter wiring or something and switch the
PTR 7 to the off position-or else this will make the PTR7 not function correctly
N1 internal solder bypass to work with newer software, N2 solder the two connection under the silver sticker(might void warranty), N3 switch the switch under the silver sticker(might void warranty). Goodluck.
void main() { float n1,n2; char sym,choice; printf("This Program is a program for calculator\n\n"); scanf("%f%c%f",&n1,&sym,&n2); if(sym=='+') printf("\n%f",add(n1,n2)); if(sym=='-') printf("\n%f",sub(n1,n2)); if(sym=='*') printf("\n%f",product(n1,n2)); if(sym=='/') printf("%f",divide(n1,n2)); printf("\nDo you wish to continue[y/n]"); scanf("%s",&choice); if(choice=='y'||choice=='Y') main(); }
You have to bypass the Parking Safety feature.
Here is the info I have found. I have not verified it myself for accuracy, so use at your own risk.
AVIC-N2 lockout bypass: Underneath the MAIN unit (not the hideaway) is a small silver sticker, peel this back. There are two contacts with the label "R197". Drop a bit of solder between these to connect them. Also, you must ground the Parking Brake wire.
the parts you can order straight from pioneer(which is expensive) or you can get on ebay and find one that is broken or just parts and get the parts off that one.
as far as the bypass if you take out the head unit and flip is upside down you will see a little silver sticker, peel this off.
its will have to tiny little metal connections.
you have to solder these together. its a rather difficult soldering task and i dont recommend it for someone who has never soldered before because if you mess it up you can try again and your unit cannot be bypassed.
