DVI Module on JVC AV-56WP74

Took the back off my projection TV and the sensor reset the module. Called JVC and was told it needs to be reset but can only be done by a service rep. I believe I could reset it if I had the code and the directions on how to get to the set up menu. Any help?

Hit sleep timer while that is still displayed at 0 hit display and v.status on your remote (make sure the switches on the remote are set to tv and the other switch is set to vcr) that will get you service mode

Someone offered me a jvc hdtv av-56wp74,and one person said just the bulb in the lamp has to be replaced;then when called jvc they said i had to by colored tubes for 300.00 each,,,,who do i believe

The tubes rarely fail in this model so it may be a convergence issue instead. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed.

Here is an example video

AV-56WP74 the convergence is off. blue is way out!

You will need to replace the Convergence ICs and resistors you can get the JVC repair kit called the AV48WP74-65WP74 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the ICs , resistors and the CD with instructions,

It is worth getting an estimate. From the symptom you explained, it looks like the horizontal output transistor became defective.

JVC 56 inch projection AV-56WP74 red color not aligned

I have the same tv set and about 4months ago Ihad the IC STK392-110 replaced. I was told that it was the most common problem with proj. tvs. It did solve the probem until last night when I went into the menu to change a audio setting and stupiditely accesed the convergence setting and decided to do an auto adjustment which mesed up my beutiful HD picture. Now I have the red out of alignment ad even after I did a reset and multiple manual adjustmets it is still off at the top and bottom af my screen.

JVC AV-56WP74 56 in rear projection convergence

If you remove the lower front panel where the speakers are then the small access panel you will see the convergence module right there in the front. It will have the two Convergence ICs attached to that heat sink. They are probably STK392-110. Then if you would like let me know and I will post a link where you can get the parts along with step by step instructions on how to do the repair.

Convergence module

That 's actually a very reasonable price for a convergence board replacement in that TV. You can expect elsewhere to be double that or more. Unless you know electronics in TVs I don't advise trying to repair it yourself.

Green screen

If the TV works ok using the component, composite and tuner inputs otherwise then the HDMI module is bad.

JVC AV-56WP74 Problem

Yes, one of your convergence IC's have gone bad. They are located on the convergence board inside the tv and there are two of them. They are inexpensive and easy to replace if you know how to solder. Watch out for the JVC booby trap sensor on the dvi input card. Don't run the tv with the back panel off unless you have disconnected the DVI card from the main board. I would even cover the little sensor with black electrical tape. Then it is safe to work on the tv when it's open and on. Well safe for those who know what they are doing.
