Yes. Press MENU/OK in shooting mode, highlight FINEPIX COLOR (looks like a film canister with leader coming out) and press selector-right. Highlight B for black-and-white and press MENU/OK.

Protected momery card

If you did not remove the memory card before, it could be there is a bad contact on the memory card or in the camera. It also could mean your card is full. (you should delete some pictures) First put the pictures on the computer or another memory, like external hard drive, or somewhere in the cloud.
If you recently had your memory card out, it could be you accidentally switched it to lock. See the picture how the switch on the SD card should be. The 64GB card is unlocked, the 32GB card is locked. Make sure your switch is up like on the picture.

Playback not open when shooting mode on.when camera turn on playback auto open.

Check if there is a button that says, "Live view", press it while shooting. You can also check settings if the Live View option has been held from there. If both options fail, check with the service center.
