If the brightness is dull even when connected to the mains, it maybe that your back lighting is faulty on the screen and you will need a qualified repairer, although it may be worth looking at a new notebook depending on the cost.

Dim screen acer 5100-3019

Try going into power option settings and taking the brightness to the max there. Start, control panel, power options, then you should see a setting for battery and for plugin. Hope this helps.

Just a problem with the display - its very dark and invisible. I have checked all the settings including brightness etc. they all good and laptop functioning properly. Changing settings won't make any...

Take the laptop into a dark room.
If the computer is on, and the screen is "normal" (icons & wallpaper & such) but still quite dim, then the "inverter" component of the LCD screen has failed.

It's about a $20 part to replace, but you should pay a qualified technician for one hour of "labour" to disassemble/replace/reassemble/test it.

Acer aspire 3000 display dim can i make it brighter?

You should be able to adjust the screen brightness using the "FN" key and the keys that have a sun on them with a arrow up and down. Or you can right click on the desktop and change the screen's brightness in the display properties. And sometimes laptops are set up to automatically lower the brightness when the power properties are set to power saver...like when running on batteries only and no ac power connected.

I cant go through windows display, because the lcd monitor is already block out, but the lcd monitor is still functioning,, its total dimmed.? can you help me?

on my toshiba, there dual function F-keys. on mine a little 'sun-looking' brightness icon is on F6 (brightness down) and F7 (brightness up). at the bottom left is a key labeled 'Fn'. you need to hold this down while tapping whichever F-key on your Acer is labeled with the 'brightness up' symbol. try it- it may work!
good luck!

The screen on my Acer Aspire 3000 has become really dark and I can't adjust the brightness as the function and arrow keys have stopped working. :S Any ideas appreciated! :)

More than likely your back light is burnt out or the inverter is bad, if you hear a high pitched whine it is the inverter and you can order a replacement online.
