Broken gear on BFP-703 base

The black plastic gear that trasmits power from the base to the blender (or food processor) cracked in half. Can this part be located? Can it be user replaced?

Same problem..... crack in half .... shouldnt they have a recall or something...

it was the reverse threads that threw me and also how tight the original brass ring was on the motor shaft.

No screw hole in the bottom of my wife's blender so had to remove the bottom case and remove the motor to remove the brass ring that holds the black Clutch Driver. You might need a second hand to hold the motor if you must pull the case apart to get to the the sloted motor drive shaft to remove that brass ring in the clutch

I hadthe same problem. I bought the black plastic clutch on e-bay. Had to take the cover to get access to the screwdriver slot to stop the shaft from spinning when I replaced it. Now, however, I can't recall exactly how these cardboard inserts go back inside the housing. I assume they re there just to protect against random splashing of water or food.

The drive is replacable and available from Cuisinart, you will have to sign a waver to get the part. the drive is screwed onto the motor shaft with reverse threads. the plastic drive will have to be completely broken off of the unit to expose a brass"nut" which was internal to the drive. depending upon your model you may have to remove the lower half of the base unit to access the lower part of the motor shaft. there will be a slot in the end of the shaft for a large flat blade screwdriver. this is used to hold the shaft still while turning the drive "nut" with a vice grip pliar or similar. the new drive is just threaded onto the shaft and normal operation tightens it.

The reverse threads were the problem for me - no hole in bottom of blender cuisinart BFP-7 so you actually have to take off the bottom plastic casing and then you will have access to the slot in the motor shaft to hold the shaft while breaking the original Clutch Drive brass ring loose - you might need an extra hand to break the original clutch loose ---- screw on the new clutch and then put on the blender jar and that will tighten up the clutch driver - I would not run this without the blender jar on top just to be safe --- wish cuisianrt was helpful but they refused even after signing a disclaimer for liabillity just to buy the part

Power in the USA is 115 VAC not 240 VAC. The motor probably blew out the thermal fuse . This fuse looks like a small silver colored cylinder connected to the power cord inside the base of the processor.

I have not seen the drive gear made available. You could try making an inquiry with either of the above sites to see if they can locate a replacement. Alternatively contact a local small appliance repair shop; they may be able to scavenge the part from another blender.

The rotor on the base for the food processor will not engage. It spins freely, and the black wheel on the bottom rotates, but does not engage the blade spindle. Why?

Usuallt, it is simple - you have the position the gear box of the food processor side until there is no gap between the gear box and the teeth on the base - this usually takes me a few tries to get it right.

If you are confident that there is no gap, call Cuisinart and see about getting a new gear box - 1-800-726-0190

You can order this part Black and Decker Blender Base Collar Ring BL5000-11
I also had the ring crack and ordered another one. It cracked after just a couple uses. So, even though you can get the replacement part, I'd suggest tossing the whole thing in the garbage and buying a different brand.

Cuisinart DFP-14 Series does not start

First, do a motor test by removing the work bowl completely and using a pen to press in the grey button on top of the base (with the food processor plugged in and turned on of course), toward the back. If the processor spins, the motor is still good. At that point, I would inspect the work bowl pieces, lid, pusher assembly, etc for cracks/damage. If all appears well, insert ALL the pieces back into place and try again. For the DFP-14, remember: handle faces front, feed tube faces back, and metal element on back of pusher faces back of processor. Connect the pieces separately - if you try to put the work bowl on with the lid and pusher already attached, it will not always lock properly. If even one piece is out of place, the processor will not spin.

If it no longer spins, the motor has a problem.

Good luck!

Black & Decker BL1900

I had to call Black and Decker directly 800-231-9786 to order the part (called the "collar"). It was $14.95 w/ shipping and handling!! Seems pretty steep for a piece of plastic.
