Question about Amana PTC153B35AK Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Amana PTH153B35AK This unit is less than 30 days old, heats fine cools fine, but when i have it in heat mode, set @ 70 or so, as soon as the room heats up, the unit will cycle into a/c mode and blow super cold air for about 5 minutes than return to heating. Sometimes it will reach the desired temp. and turn off like it is supposed to do, but for the most part it just cycles back and forth from hot to cold...Amana has the worse help/service i have ever seen, i was on the phone for an hour, everybody i talked to refered me to another number saying they didnt deal with that certain unit,,,i finaly gave up.

This often happens if the unit is oversized or to close to a wall or object.

My panasonic air conditioner does not turn off when cooling

At what temperature is the thermostat?
The temperature should never be lower than 70?F (21?C) for the unit to operate properly. If your temperature setting is above 70?F, then your unit might have a problem with the temperature sensor that controls the "on/off" cycle on your unit. For that you will need a professional certified HVAC tech to inspect it.

Most people think that lowering the temperature to the minimum will cool the room faster, but that is not the case. Since HVAC units move the air at a specific rate, it can only transfer the temperature, thus cooling/heating the air, within those parameters. That's what the calculation for the BTU is for. Normally cooling/heating the room to the desired temperature should take about 1 hour, but some new inverter units can do it in only 30 minutes or so. Lowering the temperature constantly or even keeping it at the lowest setting may cause premature failure of the unit.

Amana pth153a35ac

The first 3 answers were from idiots. If a person had read her problem they would understand that it is not a oven / stove, but a PTAC unit that heats and cools a room. This type of unit is what is commonly seen in hotels and motels where the individual heating / cooling system is in each room.

AMANA AC unit Blows heat in cooling mode

These valves do get stuck. They energize for cool and in the dead postion they heat. Your valve is stuck or not energized. Can you here it click or try to energize. If you dont hee the click you do not have voltage to the valve. The valve is powered thru the defrost board. So that might be your problem. If you have voltmeter. Take the two wires off the valve and turnit on cool you should get 24 volts. If you have 24 volts the valve is bad. If you do have voltage to the valve tap the valve while energized and sometimes this will loosen them up. If the board or valve is bad you will have to call a service tech. Russ There is only so much you can do.

Need to know what the settings are for the range adjustment A,B,C,D slide switch on the front panel on a Amana PTH123A35AC PTAC

Here they are;

Position A, Cool 70-78, Heat 65-73
Position B, Cool 68-81, Heat 68-76
Position C, Cool 66-83, Heat 61-78
Position D, Cool 63-88, Heat 58-83

Amana calls this a Temerature Limiter and says to only set one switch on at a time. If all switches are off then the unit is at full operating range.
Please rate this answer to let me know if it was the fix.

Problem with RSKP 0006 control board

If the unit has an outdoor thermostat, this turns the aux. heat on very cold days. It may need to be replaced, or removed completely, if its kicking over to soon before it gets that cold. If its set to turn on the electric at 30 degrees, then its working the right way. Also, look for different temp. setting on the board you lust installed, there should be some sort of adjustment options on it. Especially if there is no thermostat outside.
