Won't blow cold air, acts like needs recharged, can it be recharged?
Hello, anytime the unit does not blow out cool air I like to start with checking the airflow, check the filter and the evaporator coil for a buildup of dirt. If that check out ok then either the unit has a refrigerant leak or the compressor is not operating if the compressor is running than the unit is low on refrigersnt and can be recharged. In order to recharge the unit a piercing valve must be installed on the low side of the system, most window units do not have valves so one must be added to be able to charge the unit.

if it is blowing at all, this narrows the field to a compressor issue, if the compressor is coming on, but not blowing cold it could be that the coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. They can appear clean from the outdside and be dirty on the inside.

Oh, the compressor motor's borked or overworked and overheating, or its capacitor failed short (perhaps the motor is shutting off from thermal shutdown...but you get to find out whether that's so. Be safe.) Alternately the temperature sensors have gone touchy on you. Once you gently vacuum it clean, try keeping incandecent bulbs in series with the compressor to get an idea of how loaded that thing is as it runs for those 5 minutes or so; the load might change more than you expect, just pay attention.
Hopefully you won't have to replace the compressor or motor; but it's doable if you're a certified technician with like equipment (so you can handle the refrigerant decently.) Most shops will streamline a bunch of similar jobs together to cut the waste and setup time.
Bigger conditioners are so much more efficient than little ones...syndicate the A/C?

e5 is comp overload code . if you have infared remote for indoor units point at anyone while pushing all 3 buttons at the same time- 'mode' 'temp up' temp down' this will bring up OO where temp set point is normally displayed. scroll up or down with temp up or down buttons (1st digit only) untill you here the beeping sound change tone, this is the 1st part of the fault code. press mode once to change to 2nd digit, scroll again with up and down listening for change of beep- 2nd part of code ie "E5". press mode again will bring up afunny looking T-test mode. press mode again to exit. THATS VERY ACCURATE SOLUTION.SAVE IT FOR FUTURE.WISH U SUCCESS .REPLY FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE IF REQUIRED.BYE

If the compressor only turns on after the units it's shut off then it is a control board problem (stuck relay)

First of all check your unit model has heater system. And then
Toget proper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degree and also mode in "heat"position. If still no heat, check your heating sensor for closed circuit by anOHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV.If it's with heatingelement check power to element. If power is there but still no heat meanselement defective. Replace new heating element. Thanks.
