My manuel says : Protect: The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. I had the same problem with my stereo, but I took it to Geek Squad cause I still have warranty on it.

My kenwood kdc-mp53u flashes PROTECT whats wrong with it?

Protect indicates that there is a short or a grounding problem usually within the speakers2_bing.gif or the speaker wiring. Locate and press the reset button (pinhole). If protect comes back then disconnect all speakers, reset and connect them back one at a time until protect shows up again. This will help you find out where the unwanted DC signal is coming from. If protect shows up when all speakers are disconnected, then it may need service.

My kenwood kdc mp332 car cd player is saying that it is on protect and will not play anything. how do i get it on and off protect?

if the power is not turned on (or it is on, but will be off immediately,) the speaker wire may have a short-circuit or touched the chasis of the vehicle and the protection function may have been activated. therefore the speaker wire should be checked. the press the reset button. also it will do that if it gets hotter than 60 degrees celsius or 140 f

Protected

Wires are exposed. According to the manual, the wiring is grounding out or exposed at some point between the head unit and the speakers.
