Flashing red status light on NEC VT45 projector

There is a flashing red light on our school's VT45 projector. The lamp has been replaced but the flashing red light remains. Any suggestions to try?

I have the same problem on the NEC VT 440... the machine actually dropped and the light came on..... we are desperate to find out... I have opened the machine up and made sure all of the connections are tight but still have the problem

i have exactly the same problem with my 440. i dropped it but the bulb etc. seems fine, yet it still flashes red and wont turn on. i don't have a remote to try the pressing and holding "help" button option. is there anything else i can try?

  • zordlor Jun 23, 2008

there is a tiny button which is activated by the filter cover, letting the (NEC VT440) projector know the cover is in place. my button is broken, so the projector thinks there is no filter cover and won't switch on. i got it to work for a while by blue-tacking a paper clip inside to hold the button in place, but it stopped working and is very fiddly... is there any way of overriding this safeguard? it's especially annoying because i know the rest of the projector works fine!

Does anyone know how I fix my VT45 if the orabge lite is constant with an 8 second red flash. I think thats "fan error". The manual doesnt say how to fix these errors. The fan appears to be working, and the fan door is snug. This projectore has worked flawlessly for 6 years (mounted to ceiling). I presses the help button on the remote as advised during start up and shut off with no response. Any othewr ideas. When I start the projector I hear a series of tiny clicking noises. It almost sound like the igniter on a gas grill, only much quieter. It does it a few sets of times, then the projector goes into shutdown mode.

Press and hold down the help button on the remote pointing it towards the projector for at least 10 secs.

Does a lamp error message (6 blinking red status lights) mean the lamp needs to be replaced? or could something else be wrong.

According to NEC technical support, if the status light flashes red six times, this could indicate a defective lamp. If a new lamp is installed and the project still won't turn on, the projector will need service.

My NEC vt 595 was working fine last night and today i went to turn it on the status and power light started flashing red and orange and there is no picture

if Power is flashing orange - then it's cooling down

if Status is flashing red - then there are 4 flash combinations.
1 cycle (0.5sec On, 2.5sec Off) lamp cover or housing error
2 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) temperature error
4 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) fan(s) error
6 cycle (0.5sec On, 0.5sec Off) lamp error

Which is your condition?

We use NEC MT1065 and just replace its lamp but it still won't switched on (lamp indicator led is red). How can I reset it ?

Hello, unfortunately the NEC MT1060 - MT1070 series projectors have EEPROM chips built into the lamp housing which counts the hours that the lamp has been used for so the only way to reset the hours is to change the lamp for a new one, if your old lamp has only had the reflector replaced then it will make no differance because the chip tells the projector weather or not to power up depending on the hours its counted, i have not yet found a way to reset the chips even by reprogramming them, i'm afraid the only solution is to replace the lamp with an official NEC unit, but this was obviously their intention, just as an added note, a solid red lamp indicator light means that the lamp has expired, if its flashing red this means its nearing the end of its life, if the status indicator light is flashing then there could be another issue, by counting the flashes you can reffer to the manual in the troubleshooting section to diagnose the fault, I know this is very late, but anyone else reading this may find it helpfull.

Turn on the projector the power light flashes green with status as green then it goes to a flashing orange light

there should be a status for the lamp light; check to see if this one turns red. If it does count the consecutive blinks if it is 6 then replace the lamp

Steady red status light on NEC VT45 projector. Would not POWER ON. LAMP was replaced with a new one

the power supply on that model seem to go bad after a while. the caps aren't properly reted it's power needs. they dry up. if you are good at soldering, replace c1 on the board (big cap) with a cap that has a slightly higher voltage rating. or replace the whole power supply. you might not be able to get one from nec, but you can try www.projectordoctor.com

Hi I am having trouble with an LT180 DLP I'm getting a series of error messages culminating in the power light steady orange and the status light flashing a series of 6 flashes red. Inside I found that...

both lights flashing green indicate the projector lost power while it was running (didn't get to go through shutdown procedure). if the status light blinks 6 times, the lamp is failing to strike (one time means the cover is open, 2 times is a temperature issue, and 4 times is the fan). if it comes on and shuts off a short time later (less than 15 seconds), the ballast is going bad and needs replacing. if it didn't come on at all, it'd be either the ballast or the colorwheel. if the lamp light was red, it would be the lamp that needs replacing. nec won't sell parts to anyone who is not an authorized nec service center, so you'd need to contact one to get the part (although they may not sell it to you). but good luck!

No lamp and a flashing red status light

The lamp has run out of its operating hours which is normally 3000 hrs. Replace the lamp and you will be alright.

Power light flashin orange, status light flashing red on WT610 NEC

if the status light is flashing .5 seconds on and 2.5 seconds off - you need to replace the lamp cover correctly.
if the status light is flashing .5 seconds on and .5 seconds off in 2 - 6 cycles the error is: 2 cycles - the projector is overheated. Move the projector to a cooler location, or/and remove dust in the light path. 3 cycles - the power unit is not working correctly. 4 cycles - the fans are not working correctly 5 cycles - lamp fails to light. Wait a full minute and then turn on again.
