Hi - I'm Simon from Hozelock. There should be a big o ring that goes between the lid and the tank to make a seal - is that missing ? Also there should be clips that hold the lid to the tank. I have exactly the same unit as you and also suffered the seized clip problem. I found this was due to debris (fine grit) getting lodged under the clip hinges ands the easiest way to get rid was to flush it out with a high pressure water jet. also you need to make sure that the large "O" ring is seated properly. The clips latch easier when a downward force is placed on the top. Hope this helps.
