Panasonic NV-RZ15 VHS-C Analog Camcorder Logo
amitab kumar Posted on Mar 05, 2007

Panasonic nv-rz15 I've recently run into a very odd problem. When my camera is switched on and put to Camera mode, the view on Viewfinder is normal but after few minutes it starts to flicker and goes to black. You can tell the camera sees something because there will be rough stretched shapes occassionally. But mostly it looks like a black screen with flickers of white lines when some movement is observed in front of the camera. If I record like this the image comes out exactly as seen through viewfinder. The audio is perfectly fine.In player mode the tape playout is perfectly normal. Will anyone suggest me the possible causes of this problem.any feedback is highly appreciated.

My rebel canon camera doesn't show up on screen when taking pictures only after I take them

I presume you're asking about a Digital Rebel and not a 35mm film Rebel (as per the question heading).

If so, that's probably normal. It's only relatively recent dSLR models which have a "live preview" facility (often wrongly called "live view"). The whole point of an SLR is that the viewfinder is the main compositional viewing tool; the LCD is there solely to display and adjust camera functions and to review images already captured.

Most current and recent SLR's now have live preview, and all true SLR's are incapable of viewing the image at the actual moment of image capture as the viewfinder mirror must flip up out of the way of the image sensor.

If you want live preview then you must change your camera. if you tend not to use the viewfinder anyway then consider mirrorless Compact System Cameras such as the Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four Thirds models as they do have a true live view capability and the LCD is the main (or only) tool for composing images. Panasonic also have their regular Four Thirds G range, which look like an SLR but have an electronic viewfinder and they are also capable of true live view.

How to fix the problem of the screen viewing is now like a mirror effect to the objects it is seeing and the wording is viewed also like you would see it looking through a mirror. Now if you flip the view...

Panasonic Viewfinder - Mirror image:
Although I don't own a Panasonic, my Samsung and JVC camcorders have this flipped image function, so I guess most are similar in theory.
The mirror image is a function used for taking selfies, or where you want the subject to frame themselves while previewing the image on-screen.
This only affects the viewfinder screen, not the saved video or still, which remains as normal.
To correct this, you need to navigate to the 'settings' menu, exact location depending flavor of camera.
There should be an option for "self-portrait" mode or similar.
Switch this back to normal mode.
Why mirrored?
When screen is rotated 180 degrees to face subject in normal mode, they would see an inverted image, so the "selfie" function flips the graphic to compensate.

Clive.

When opening the lcd screen on my nv-gs17 the screen is blank, although the camera works just fine

Has the camera been switched to internal viewfinder mode? Many cameras have this feature (mine does) for people who like the old fashioned method of looking through the little viewfinder rather than using the screen on the back - saves battery too. Look for a button with a symbol that looks like a box with a vertical line on the left and right of it. press it and the screen should come back.
Hope this helps.

I had my D5000 for a month now, recently i noticed something with my camera. looking though the viewfinder only, whenever i focus (half pressing the shutter button), the view from the viewfinder moves up,...

Welcome to the real world of photography, using the viewfinder is a whole new experience in the crating of fine photographs. Aside from this what you are actually seeing is the VR turning on and locking onto the target, you should actually feel this happening as well (if you are holding the camera correctly) What you are experiencing is normal. Thank you for the excellent description

Push the reset switch

The means that the powerup self test is not completing successfully. If there is no error indication in the viewfinder, this unit will need to see a Panasonic servicer for repair.

No picture

if the index go --:--:-- or 00:00:00 when you press play to view recorded material then you have a SERIOUS problem. That means heavy repair and cost. Buy something new.
