Laptop died!!! My laptop worked fine when I turned it off but now it will not come on at all. I have been told I may need a battery -do you know if all power goes through the battery even if it is plugged in? The cheapest battery I have found is 190.00 online, do you have any suggestions.

    I have the same problem no lights flash or come on when I plug in the adapter. Nothing happens. It just will not come on. I even thought that my battery was no good so I let it charge for a while and tried to turn it on again and still nothing.

    I have a similiar problem. I thought that is was my adapter so I brought a new one and it did not work. I can hold the power cord and press the power button but it will not come on I can hear the fan a little then it stops but my monitor will not come on at all

My laptop comes on but after that it goes black i can hear the fan run but the desk top wont come up and then i hit F 8 and it says that the cmos settings were wrong help

THe power controller in a laptop manages both AC power and battery. A laptop can power on without a battery as long as it is connected to the charger. That's because both battery and AC power have same power specifications. If the laptop fails to power from AC charger, then you may have an internal hardware failure. If no LED's flash, no light and no noise is made when you connect the charger, the problem is most likely to be a simple one, a faulty connector or something like. First of all, please specify me, what laptop model you have, and, exactly, what does it do when you connect the AC charger.

If the power supply does not run the laptop without the battery, then the problem is the jack in the laptop, over time the plug breaks free of the motherboard causing intermittent operation or no power. If the power supply runs the laptop without the battery, it is the charging circuits on the motherboard that is the issue.

Power issues on HP DV1000
It is possible you have two dud batteries. Recharageable batteries have a limited life, they have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles.
With the battery removed and only the power supply connected and the laptop powered up, when you touch the connector on the laptop and the laptop does not shut down then the laptop connector is OK.

If you can verify your new battery is OK the the fault could be the power supply adapter, if may not produce enought current to run and charge the battery. Try charging the battery overnight by turning off the laptop and leaving on the mains t charge. Borrow a mains adapter and test it on your computer.

You can also check the BIOS setting for power management, ie. hibernate, low power shut down etc.

u got a serious problem with ur laptop:

i duuno how that occur but u got a short circuit problem.

this may solve the problem try to sctratch the nozzles of the battery and the nozzels of the laptop and see what happen

if that not work u need to give it to a repair guy


cuz all the laptops turn on with adpter

More than a battery you may need a power adpter or you may need to fix something else. The laptop should work even with no battery inside when connected to power adapter. However, a faulty battery may prevent the computer from starting. Remove battery and try to start laptop with power connected. If it does not work you ll need to troubleshoot the problem further. If you need a cheaper battery or power supply you can try checking on ebay.

heyo....if you have to litterally hold the plug at the back of the computer...you will need to have the jack wires fixed. There should be a light indicator showing that it is plugged in and recharging what you hold it....if that turns off if you let go, it is the jack....that is a flag to get it repaired.......or use a lot of duct tape. :-)

Toshiba Satellite R15-S822 will not turn on
toshiba batteries, not all .. but many just have problems ... 
try this ... 
pop the battery out ...  and plug in the ac w/o the battery in place ... if this works .. you need a new battery ... 
otherwise .. try another battery ( same model , of course ) if this works ... you need a new battery 
look up your battery on toshiba and/or sony's website (battery recall program)
that's all i can think of right now .. let me know if any of this helps
