Turn on your mp3 player, under settings find an option that says 'usb mode' or something similar. Under usb mode switch the value (switch the picked choice to the other option). Turn off the player and plug it into your computer. It now will work.

this is an add on to my other solution (racecar_123). The values are MSC and MTP. One of then should work.

I don't know how to fix it, but it sounds as though we are having the same problem. I think it is caused by the e260 being in the wrong file format. Alas, i do not know how to change the format without the computer recognizing it.

I dont have sandisk driver for my sansa E260..i cant transfer songs..

Sansa Not Recognized: Try connecting it to the back of your computer or another computer the back straight to the motherboard this should be USB 2.0 and see if it will recognize it as sansa or Drive/removable drive. if it does then download the sansa update software and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when asked. This will update your sansas firmware and add the Usb Mode. Try to connect it to your computer at home it should recognize.... link for update software (http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe) download to a flash drive much easier. Make sure USB mode is MSC
Recovery Mode may also allow your computer to recognize the sansa
lock your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to the computer Start the update software when finished disconnect.... Sync to upload songs to the sansa......Hope this works

Half of song list not recognized by Sansa e260

i will surely help you. you have mentioned that you can see all the songs when your mp3 player is connected to the computer. so what you can do is, you can very well go ahead & format all the songs in your mp3 player using your computer. then you transfer a few songs to your mp3 player(the songs which were not getting recognized in your mp3 player). this should solve your problem.

I want to save the songs that are already on my sansa e260(4gb) on to a sd card because my screen cracked. is this possible?? i dont have these songs saved on my computer anymore!!

If the player is not totally dead, your PC should be able to recognize it via the USB connection.

If that is the case, you can open it on your PC as a storage device (drive) and copy the files, either to your hard drive, or to a separately connected SD card.

Sansa 4Gb Wont let me add or delete songs anymore!

If the PC does not recognize the player, try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
