Question about JVC KD-DV4200 Car DVD Player
Just purchased this unit to replace my audiobahn stand alone dvd unit under the passenger seat of my minivan. There is the power and ground wires already in place along with the yellow video and audio RCA wires from the old unit. Seems like a simple swap of units but the instructions refer to a switching wire being needed and a parking break wire. I wish to only use this unit for DVD playback...dont care of radeo or other playback. Do I have an install nightmare here or shall I take to Best Buy and pay for an install...please advise. if easy and only need to find a switching wire...where do I find that...in the dash of where my existing stock radio is??just splice and pull under the carpet to the other wires already in place?? Any help or advise is appreciated.

No, you do not need to connect the parking break wire for the unit to be powered. My radio worked when the parking break wire wasn't attached, but you cannot watch video's or use USB without attaching it to something... you can bypass the parking break to a switch if you like.

bro to me it sounds like your radioi is bad you got everything hooked up right to get sound from it maybe the ant. hooked up but you should still get sound thats why I say the amp in the unit is bad!
here a little help: red: ignition when the key is turned on
yellow or orange: all time 12v
black: ground
blue: amp turn on, or auto ant.
