My factory bose system was working and kickin **** just fine... then today, while on the road and listening to a radio station, the highs started fading out... thought it was broadcast, later found out ALL but the 2 FRONT door speakers have no sound coming out. did the balance fader thing... of course, nothing. it wasnt an abrupt loss, rather over a few seconds...is there a separate amp/fuse for these other speakers? i read somewhere here that all the speakers, but the front door ones, are driven by a separate amp. if so, where is it and where may the fuse for it be? any help is greatly appreciated. i love this vehicle and the system sounded so darn good and powerful and clean. i hope you can help thanks
The amp fuse should be in the fuse box in the dash, it is fuse 20 and it should be a 25amp fuse that is clear in color. Although looking at the diagram, all the speakers go through the factory amp. So you may have another issue.
Taking another look at the diagram I noticed the the head unit only has 4 speaker outputs to the amp (Left front, right front, left rear and right rear) the amp then takes the 4 outputs from the head unit and turns them into 6 outputs to the speakers, using that knowledge I figure it has to be the amp, just because there are 4 speakers in the front and 2 in the rear. If the head unit lost the front outputs then none of the front speakers would work, not just 2 of them. So if I had to say without looking at it or without testing some connections, I would say that the amp is the problem. I hope this helps you out.

i cant believe that NO one has any clue
thanks Logan... that really does help... i kinda lost a bit of my 'touch' on reading diagrams a little bit... but i figured that if ALL the speakers go thru the amp... voila! then that has to be the issue.. i dont know why it just decided to **** out like this... but again... based on my description.. would you think the issue was the amp or the head unit? its gotta be one or the other... i found the amp, unplugged the larger of the 2 plugs, think that one was the speakers due to its number of wires the working ones didnt work after that, plugged it back in, those 2 worked. head unit ? amp?? pick one for me
hey Logan... thanks thus far.... ok... UGH!!!! HOW THE F DID THEY GET THIS AMP IN THERE!!! more so, HOW DO YOU GET THE DARN SMALLER OF THE 2 PLUGS O U T!!! i almost took a crowbar to it i was so ******! and i am NOT new to radio installs! heck... whoever thought of this placement should get a MEDAL! my hands are all cut up from trying to get at it.. let alone figure out how to even get it OUT... i had the cupholder section off, the console inside felt part storage area out, started to get the bolts holding the cd changer out... they are almost impossilbe to get to...with so little room on either side of it.. now. looking down at it, if i COULD get the changer out.... how the heck do you get the amp out? it appears to be screwed in from whatever plate it is on..from the underside! so... i reversed all i did and put it all back. if anyone knows HOW to get this amp out without destruction,... please let me know! i cant look to find an oem replacement without knowing the PART number for it...which again... is on the underside of the amp. i really like the oem system thats in it as well as the steering controls.. i have seen aftermarket adapters that are said to keep the use of those controls..but can said adapter which seems to connect to the plugs that went to the amp, be used with the existing bose head unit and a different amp if i couldnt find an oem amp replacement? it seems easier to just swap out/in an oem amp.
thanks for all the help/advice !
still waiting on more info guys
does anyone know how to get the center console amp OUT so i can replace with another oem unit? since that is what seems to be the problem, thats what i probably need to do. if anyone knows another reason why all my speakers but door woofers would go out, please chime in and maybe save me some grief. i already got TO the amp, that alone is a pain. getting it out seems to be a nightmare. thanks
