S-video out to tv nvidia 9300 gforce won't work

obvious things first. have you tried the other input plugs on the TV? do you get the same problem with plugs 1 and 2?
you can try only having the TV connected to the Graphics card and turning on the PC see if it comes up as the primary display automatically.
have you tried configuring the Nvidia setting so ONLY the tv is a display instead of dual monitor?
doing these will rule out faulty cable or faulty S-video plug or Faulty TV input plug.

Can someone please help me get my laptop working through HDMI cable onto TV on a sony VAIO VGN-FW23G. I need to know the process to do this

1. Check the computer for changing output (some computers use <F5>, <F8>, depending on which brand they are. I believe Sony uses <Function><F7> or <F7>).
2. Check what channel the HDMI port is on (e.g. AV1, HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.) - you need to know this if your TV doesn't automatically switch to the new input.
3. Plug the HDMI cable into the TV HDMI cable-in port.
4. Plug the HDMI cable into the laptop HDMI cable-out port.

5. Turn on the computer.
6. Press the <Function><F7> simultaneously ONCE. The screen should flicker and show up on TV.
7. Sometimes you may have to go to "Display Preferences" and select Dual Monitors or external monitor if your computer doesn't do it automatically. Repeat Step 6 after.

** You may have to adjust Display Resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower in order for the TV to work. After it works at a lower display (800 x 600, for example), you can adjust the resolution to the maximum the TV can accept.

I am attempting to connect my HP pavilion dv9000 to a HP 2310e monitor, but it doesn't recognize the monitor via the HDMI cable

You must make sure it's configured correctly: make sure the monitor is up and running (not in Sleep) , that the HDMI cable is firmly plugged in (use a new one to be sure), then right click on the desktop, click NVidia Control Panel, under Select a Task expand Display and click Run multiple display wizard . If the monitor isn't picked up then go to Set up multiple displays options and see if the monitor appears in the second setting (Select the displays...) - if it doesn't then click the MY Monitor is not shown in the list option and follow the procedure to force its detection.
If even that fails then the video driver is corrupted, you will have to uninstall it, download the latest one and reinstall it.

My computer's tower turns on but it doesn't display on the monitor, the monitor shows the normal Self test box so the monitor doesn't seem to be the problem. Also when I press the power off...

Make sure that the cable is connected from your computer to the monitor, and if it is wiggle it and push it in all the way. If it has screws, screw them in. If that does not work, check that your monitor is on the correct input (if it has multiple) then see if anything comes on the monitor. If nothing happens you should buy a new cable from the store. If all of those steps do not work your computer or your monitor might have a more serious problem.

Setting up dual monitors with NVIDIA 7300 GS Graphics Adapter

so...
your computer don't recognize your nvidia graphic card in PCI Express slot.
you are runing now with computer's integrated graphic card?
if so then you won't have dualview option. in this case it looks for me like you've installed in the wrong way your graphic card.

your NV GeForce 7300 GS has 2 video output?
if yes then you should have the option for 2 monitors on nVIDIA control panel (i have check my nVIDIA GeForce 7600gt and in my case this option is present but is enabled only if i connect the second monitor, so try do so)

you have installed the latest nVIDIA drivers from the official website? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

check if your video card is corect installed start/run type in " devmgmt.msc ". it will open device manager and under the display adapter tab you should see what video card you use now.
