System will not power up

This morning I woke up and found the desk top dead no lights totally dead. went to Micro Center purchased new power supply. Now I have a light at the top of the mother board but thats it no fan function on any of the fans no blinking power switch. Does not even try to turn on I have read on here that others have had this problem. Im not real computer savy but do understand board components and functions. there are no scorch marks around capacitors it seems that the power supply is not being turn on by the mother board. as there is no voltage output to the hd or cd rom. I would love to here any suggestions thanks Joe we do leave the pc on most of the time

Have you replaced the cmos battery(disc shaed flat 3V CR2032), although there could be more sinister problems than this as the mobo or processor may be damaged.

Have you checked whether mains power reaches the power board? Check it first. If yes, the power board you purchased newly should be checked.

Go to Control Panel, (top right View Small Icons). Then look for Power Options. On this page, you'll have the option to leave the monitor on. You should also check "Advanced Power Options". Don't be afraid of the word, "Advanced." It only means "customizeable"

If your mouse isn't waking your monitor, try the keyboard's space bar. I found it works better than the mouse at waking a sleeping computer
