Try to bring it first to the service center. yes probably its the crt yes, but it could be also a misaligned convergence which loosed when it was dropped accidentally. convergence adjustment are located in the neck of the crt, so maybe it got loose when it was dropped. besides they will tell if its really the crt. then thats the time you can decide to buy a new one. nothing to loose in trying! good luck!

You have definatley damaged the shadow mask inside of the CRT (picture tube) hense with that the electron beam doesn't land where it is supposed to. Replace the TV and count your losses as the CRT will cost twice as much a s replacement TV.

Chances are is that the actual screen inside is broke, so that the laser cannot display the correct colors in the right spots. First talk to a TV repair guy, but he will probably just say to buy a new tv.

Cracked LCD Screen

I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.
For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. LCD screens really break easily as you know. http://www.tv-armor.com

Sharp aquos lc - 42d43u lcd inside cracked

Normally warranty does not cover this kind of physical damage to your lcd screen. First check with your vendor to confirm. To replace the lcd panel is very expensive, may cost you as much as to buy a new one.
