My LG mini split, model S121CG, 12,000 BTU, 1270 W leaks water sometimes, why?

With out looking at it, I can give you some ideas that could cause these problems. I need to know where the water is coming from? If it is leaking on the inside, this narrows it down some. It sounds to me that the evap. coil is icing up which the unit could be low on freon, you're indoor fan motor may not be running up to speed, a dirty filter or evap. coil. You need to shut the unit off, maybe through the night. Get a latter and remove the cover on the indoor unit. Check and wash the foam filter and look the coil over for excess dirt build up. Leave the cover off for now, and go outside to the outdoor unit. Have someone turn the t-stat to on. Watch and make sure that the outdoor fan stays on and listen very close to see if you can hear the compressor running. It sounds to me that one of the named items I have listed is causing the evap. coil indoors to ice up and blocking the air flow to you're home. Let it run with the cover off and just watch it for a few hours. If it starts to ice up and the filter is removed with cover, and the indoor fan is also blowing air, more than likely, you have a small freon leak which is causing the problem. If I were there, I would know in a few min. what the problem is. As far as the leak, it is the ice melting off and running over and the condesate line may have a partial plug in it. If it is low on freon, you can go outside and put your hand on the larger copper line to see if it is warm. It should be sweating or condesating if it is charged properly. If warm or barely cool, more than likely it needs a charge and leak check.

First check your circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the outside unit. It's probably separate from the inside unit. Then try to turn unit on. If the fan and compressor just make a humming sound then turn it off and check the capacitor if you have a multimeter. You can also look at it and see if the top looks expanded. That's a good sign its bad, but not all bad one's look expanded. Tomorrow I will have access to an LG service manual and can let you know what the code means. Sorry I can't get it sooner. Let me know what you find.
Yes they Do they are called Dual Zone Units. At http://www.paylessminisplit.com they are very helpful if you call them they can answer alot of questions about many brands of mini split air conditioners.

There was lots of dirt on the foam filter so I took it to the sink and used soaky water with a little bleach and brushed it with a tooth brush and then rinsed it real well and dried it and put it back in. It has not leaked water since. Thanks for your help. I guess the dirt was not letting the air flow and the coil must have iced up and then thawed and leaked on my floor. Thanks again, Pamela
