when start computer give me two choose

-press f1 to continue or f2 to set up.

I used the Caldera wipe drive, to clean my 80GB HD. I bought a 500GB HD so that I can use is as my primary drive. When my wipe drive program is finished, which works from a floppy, you 'esc' which takes you to two A://, than remove the floppy and place the Operating System in the tray and restart the computer. Because of the F1 to continue and F2 to setup problem, I have gone back to the Caldera menu and checked for the HD, which only shows the primary not the secondary and it tells me that it is deactivated! The 80GB hard drive might be bad but the 500 GB is brand new. What could be causing this problem?

I wish when you restart again your computer just boot up normally. The cause for this warning message are 1. This often happened to some older P4 motherboards because BIOS is outdated.  2. You can enter into your BIOS setup by pressing F2 and set HDD Auto detection in to USER mode. This will skip auto detecting disks. Nextly update your BIOS

If this dont work please tell me

Good Luck!

If you say continue will it go into your operating system okay? If so, you just need to disable some settings in BIOS (F2 for setup) When you go into the setup it should show a list of your drives. Make sure all hard drives and CD drives are showing there. Disable any of the other IDE connections that are not in use. If all the drives aren't showing there and you can't get into windows, then you need to shut down the computer and make sure all the connections are good on the hard drives and CD drives. There will typically be a wide gray cable (IDE Cable) or a skinny (usually red) cable (SATA Cable) running to these drives, make sure that they are connected to the device and to the motherboard. If all looks good and you still get the same error, it could be a bad drive.

When I startup my pc I have to press F1 before it starts . I am running windows xp home

This has nothing to do with windows, but is a cmos or bios issue. There should be an error something like, Time incorrect press F1 to continue or F2 to enter setup. Check the error and then press the correct key to enter setup. If the issue is the time, fix the time and date in set up. Most other issues will clear when you exit and save set up.

If you would like more information, please provide the exact wording of the error that you are pressing F1 to continue from.

Hi, When I try to start my Dimemsion 5150C in Windows XP computer, I received one of the following error messages "Floppy diskette seek failure Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup...

The "floppy" disk-drive (3.5-inch diskette) on your computer is broken.
Press F1 to ignore the error, and to boot from your C: drive.
Or, press F2 to enter BIOS SETUP, and then navigate through those "setup" screens to tell the computer to "disable floppy seek", or change the setting from "3.5 1.44Mb drive" to "none".
Or, take the computer to a technician, and buy a replacement disk-drive, and get it installed.

Hi! my computer doesn't start normally it goes back to the same error every time. Errors: Floppy diskette seek failure Drive 3 not found: Parallel ATA,PATA-1 (PRI IDE Slave) Strike the F1 key to continue,...

Press F2 to enter the Bios, on the first screen navigate to the floppy A: drive select disable and the error should go away.

From the sounds of it your Floppy drive is damaged or just bad. you can take it for repair or purchase a new one fairly cheap and replace it yourself. But just disabling it should do the trick since floppy's are pretty much obsolete.

the recovery Disk wont help you unless its an error you get in windows itself btw.. (unless its a OS start problem which this doesn't seem to be)

Secondary drive 0 not found

Hi there.
Sounds like the boot order has been changed in the bios.
The secondary drive sounds like the CD drive as most laptops only come with 1 HDD installed.
Change the boot order to the primary drive by Pressing F1 during startup when the ThinkPad logo is displayed..
Once in the bios change the boot order, save and exit, the computer will restart and boot from the hard drive, when you get into windows check to make sure that the CD rom recognizes CD/DVD's.
Please post back if you need any more help.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

DRIVE 0 not found

The first thing that you need to do is press F2 and go into the setup. The system may need to "discover" the drive so that it knows what is there.
There is usually a section for auto-detect on hardware and then it should find the drive listed. Then save the new settings (usually pressing F10 to save and exit) and then see if it boots up properly.
The computer will then boot up and should come up. Since this is a new drive, the system will not be able to start, since there is no operating system on the drive.
You will need your Windows CD handy so that you can re-install the OS and then go from there.

Dimension 3100 Won't Boot

Make sure your HD Cables are all firmly plugged in, and that all drives are starting when you turn on the computer. You can tell with harddrives as they will slightly whine, and have a small, steady vibration to them. If they are all starting, and all cables are fully seated, check in your Setup utility that the drives themselves are Auto-Detect. If none of this fixes your issue, you may have to refer your computer to a computer repair shop.

Hope this helps!
