Question about Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom Digital Camera

Fuji FinePix S602 Zoom - Black strip down picture

When I look through the viewfinder I can see a black strip down the right hand edge of the picture. This is also reproduced on the saved image. This only happened after 2 or 3 shots of the group of pictures I was taking and I can't get rid of it. Any advice?

Hi i have the same problem,

Yesterday I tried to take pictures with my camera and found that both the viewfinders only displayed 2/3 of the screen. The remaining 1/3 was a vertical black band. The same black band comes out on the photos when I look at them on the pc. It views old photos loaded onto the card fine. The same happens when I use the video mode.

I have not knocked it in any way so I am hoping it Could be fixed by a firmware upgrade.

    Please help,

    Dominic

Pretty much the same problem; I can see (exactly) half a picture perfectly, the other is black. From the series of pictures that I took, I could see the right hand side fade gradually....hazy colour, then green and finally black. It's not worked since! - Pretty sure that my next camera won't be a Fuji, since my warranty has run out =[

If you see the black line on your images and it is a very crisp clear line then it is an issue with the cameras image sensor. If the line is less crisp and clear then it may be a more simple of contamination in/on the lens. If the line is crisp and clear and the camera is under warranty get it fixed or replaced. If it is out of warranty look into getting the CCD component replaced at a repair facility. There is an outside chance that it is just the connector which bridges the sensor to the processing board - but that usually manifests all over the image, not just in 1 strip. My picture is three quarters blacked out on the digital viewer

Your camera is need of repair. This has to do with the CCD inside the camera. http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/ServiceSupportProduct.do?prodcat=471517
follow this link to locate the nearest service center to inquire about repair.
Thank you,

Drivers

You shouldn't need a driver for xp and above as it will be detected as a generic card reader..(As per the manual information)

Having said that there is a driver available from the Fuji site..

http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/legacy-cameras/finepix-s602-zoom/support

I remember finding this confusing when I was looking for a driver for my S602

Fuji Finepix S602Z

Since you can see it when taking new pictures but not on old photos then that suggests that the part of the image sensor is faulty. I think this would make it a camera repair shop job as the S602's can't be taken to bits easily.

Fuji finepix s602 horizontal banding

OK I know I'm very late posting this, but should anyone else wonder, this is typical of a dead CCD, typically very expensive to fix. Sorry.
