Ok, cheapest item to check is the cmos battery, after 8 years it must require changing. Take left side panel off, as you look at the pc and look on the mother board for a flat disc shaped 3V battery, flick out and replace. If still nothing then the power supply unit is next expensive thing and will have to be checked by an electrician. Next power up item is the processor, and unless you have a spare one to try this can be hard diagnose, likewise checking the motherboard.

Dell loud fan noise

Is the computer completing post? This is indicated normally by a single beep after the power button is turned on. On most computers the beep is proceeded by a post screen with the manufactures logo. If the computer is not getting this far, unplug everything but the memory and video. This should cause the computer to give a no hard drive or OS error. If not pull all the memory, this should cause the computer to give a series of beeps (because there is no memory installed). If this does not work either, you could have a bad mother board or power supply.

Hope this helps

My Dell Latitude D820 Notebook wont start up. It was acting a bit glitchy but nothing serious when it was on so i decided to restart it. When I tried to restart it The Green Power light came on a it very...

Sounds like a motherboard issue. The sound you are hearing is probably the fan running so your board may not be totally shot. Generally, when the computer won't start at all that is the issue. The only other thing I can think of is the power supply but your fan probably wouldn't run either.

I have a Dell 1525 laptop and when powering up, nothing comes up on the screen but the power light comes on. One time it made a loud beeping nosie.

It depends on the beeping noise you hear. If it beeps short but continuouse then it is probably power problem possibly the battery. You can use a guide to the beeps to determine what exaclty is causing the probpem it might well be the hard drive is gone.

PS3 no picture problem..

Try using RGB cables and unplug the HDMI cable from the PS3, then while the PS3 is off, hold down the power button/sensor on the PS3 untill you hear a beep or a few beeps. This will force the PS3 to automatically detect the TV/cable resolution settings. Hope this works.

All three lights turn on like normal and then nothing

Depending on the pitch. humming noises are either a motor ie: fan motor or if it is very low a defective capacitor . Since you have the yellow band and the high pitched beep my fist thought is somthing defective in the power supply. Take it to an authorized servicer.

Not loading up to main screen

ok go to youtube and type" PS3 REPAIR/FIX" basicly what you do is put the ps3 on standby (the red light on) and then turn the main power off (the back switch) then hold the I/O button in the front (the on switch you use to put on standby) just hold it until it will go to standby then hold the I/O button again (the standby button) and then keep holding it until you hear one beep, then wait for two quick beeps. Then there should be a menu and select "Restore Defualt Settings". If it dosent work CONTACT SONY!
