Hi, Not usually especially if the remote had a sleep timer button. the only excception is if the tvis fitted with buttons for accessing/navigating the menu functions from the local keyboard.
A quick way to verify if theremote is outputting any IR is to view the front of the remote with a digital camera/ phone camera etc whike pressing a button. you will normall see a white flickering light if all is well. note this doesn't confirm if there is good signal - more only an indication the remote is operational
hi! i have here a couple of codes for your emerson tv. you could try them 0004 0009 0044 0135 0049 0051 0189 0053 0147 0039 0130 0227 0233 0250 0252 0254 0257 0265 0266 0310 0325 0456 0040 0041 0042 0021 0023 0024 0179 0045 0025 0027 0030 0032 0034 0035 0037 hope it would work! goodluck!
if you have a universal remote control that you are trying to program . the newer ones have a 4 digit code .. the older ones have only a 3 digit code .. the ones with 3 digit codes often wont work with newer equipment ... the new type universal remotes cover a lot more types .. ... if you are trying to get the remote that came with the TV working .. then you can remove the batteries for 10 min .. when you put them back in it should default to original factory settings ..
Some universal remotes will not program for combo devices using the TV code. You might try using the VCR code and see if it takes. Some operating functions might not work.
Most likely since you dropped the remote than it stopped working, It is most likely the remote. Some universal remotes say they have the code for your television but they do not. Because lots of different manufactures make televisons under different names. Try a better universal. If it does turn out to be the piece in the television, You will probably have to have it serviced by a professional
