Samsung Digital TV and Sony DVD Recorder

My tv has inbuilt freeview but I am unable to get my new dvd recorder to record any freeview channels unless the tv is turned on and on that particular channel. If I record with the tv off it just records a blank screen. Any Suggestions? Thanks

Is it possible to tune the channels of an integrated freeview digital box within a tv to a recordable dvd player

No!

However, i see what your trying to accomplish - being able to record the freeview pictures you recieve form the Sony inbuilt tuner onto the recorder.. whilst being able to watch a different channel..?!

Well, you cant. If your Recorder has an inbuilt digital tuner then of course this would solve your issues, whereas if it is purely an analouge recorder and your in an area that has switched over then youll need some new hardware unfortunatly,.

Phone Sony on 0845 6000124 local rate number for more advise

LG RH266 setup with freeview tv

Sorry to say no it wont not unless the Tv set manuel says it has a Duel Freeview feed , you have to get another freeview box for the recorder .
besides If you used the freview in the tv 1 , the tv would have to be on when you wanted to record ?. and 2 you couldnt watch another channel whilst recording another .. only 1 tuner ?. also you could only record the program you had on .at the time no timer facility .
People are still used to the Old system of VHs and the fact that all videos had tuners built in so you could watch and record .. It will come and indeed some more modern DVD recorder have freeview built in again sorry but thats the facts , and dont forget if you want the pay per view channels on free view your going to need a tuner with a pay card port ... Dvd recorder

It is the signal that is digital not the TV, does your TV have a scart connection on the back? (a 2 rowed 21 pin female connection point).
That is the best way you can connect your DVD Rec. to it. The digital ready is just going to be DVB or something similar, which is just a form of digital freeview. Dont be conned by salesmen into buying a new TV with the DVD, as long as your TV was bought in the last decade or so it will have scart. If not you should just loop the RF out from the video into the DVD then out the DVD into the TV. But if you want to record from video to DVD you will have to connect the two by scart lead.

Similar problem as you helped me solve before.

OK, I think I see the problem there.
The aerial lead from the DVDR to TV should be removed.
You should have it setup the same as the other Freeview - VCR - TV
Nutshell time:
Main aerial to Freeview input.
Loop aerial from freeview output to DVDR areial input (all this does is allow you to watch freeview, or standard both out of the DVDR)
So..
Scart from Freeview to DVDR input
Scart from DVDR output to TV
Set DVDR to AV input mode.
Set TV to AV (whatever number you need for that..you now won't get anything on screen unless you have the right input selected)

If you can now see the Freeview picture on the TV and change the channels with the Freeview remote then you should be set for recording.

Having the aerial and a scart lead both going to the TV is not needed.

Recording Problems

Hi.

Yes.
Most tv sets with freeview built in do not allow you to record it.
Check your tv instruction manual to see if it is at all possible.

This tv has inbuilt freeview, how do i use a dvd recorder to record off it?

The Wharfdale Machine that has Freeview has an F on the end ie vdrhd400f. It may be yours is an analogue version. Always possible that you can use the TV as an output via a scart to record what you are watchin
