Question about Sony MHC-RG660 CD Shelf System

3 Answers

"mecha error"? I was reconnecting the front speakers while I had music playing through the system (probably not a good idea I know). When I picked up the amp to move it back to its original position, I heard a small pop and it shut down. If I try to turn it on now the display shows "mecha error", followed by "eject" then "standby", at which point it goes into standby. I'm hoping that this could just be due to something like a blown fuse, but I really have no idea. I'll probably have to take it to be fixed anyway, but can anyone shed some light on this?

Mecha errors usually refer to a mechanical problem. I would inspect the whole thing for any obstructions, jams, etc. Hello lawsoncl thank you for answering me, I inspected the printer, both on the right and left, there is no obstruction, I opened the upper door and even no obstruction, as I recommend to proceed. E-Mecha...what does it mean?

Hello cclub2002,

First try to turn it off and then on.
If that doasent work, turn it off for 10 mins and then turn it back on.

If the error continues, let me know.
By the way, to try to get your CD out, search for a hole (2 mms in diameter) It should be near the CD tray, but could be anywhere.
Once you locate the small hole, find a paper clip or smomething as pointy as it, and insert the paper clip in.
Press it had and the CD tray will come out.

Good luck and anything else you need let us know,
Dahaka

SOURCE: Mecha Error 12 on Kodak Photo 6800 printer
I had a 6850 with the Mecha error 12. No listing in the service guide for this error. I took the front of the printer off and observed that the cut head was not moving far enough to the left to trigger the sensor. I realized that a screw of unkown origin had fallen down behind the cut head and was preventing it from triggering the left sensor. It took a curved pick tool and a pair of tweezers to get it out. I don't recommend taking the cut assembly apart as the alignment is pretty crucial.

Hope this helps some poor sole from the hours of fustration that it gave me.

Probably means there is something wrong with the DVD drive. Check that a disc is not inserted wrong. You could also try cleaning the DVD lens.

Bought a LG Blu ray DVD Home theater system last weekend and set up with LG lcd tv and has been working fine till today. We had the radio on and I turned the TV on and the two rear speakers do not work...

Hello,
In a surround sound system, the correct way to listen to music is in stereo mode which will play out of your left and right channels and your subwoofer. When viewing a movie with surround sound, then you should use your rear speakers. The key element to remember is that rear speakers are only intended to play your sound effects, and will not play full range audio. Thats what your fronts and center are for. If you simply want to override this, than you will need to select the direct sound field on your receiver and than it will send full range audio to all speakers connected. Most likely, its not going to sound that good. If you dont know what each sound field does, here is a list and function of the most commonly used ones.
Stereo-Front Left and Right speakers including subwoofer
Dolby Digital or PLII Movie-these are the bost options for your surround sound
Direct-All speakers connected get full range signal
Good Luck

The soud has no high frequences, how can i regulate them?

There are no settings for this. I have the same problem, I think the speakers are tired. Ours gets used as a music system at parties so has suffered quite a bit of abuse. I have improved things a bit by swapping the front and rear speakers. The rear ones don't usually play as loud as the front, so were in better condition. Unplug the mains first, disconnect the wires at the speakers, move the speakers round, reconnect making sure that you keep + and - correct and give it a try.

Mecha error

I had the same problem. My unit would not eject CDs. I was able to fix it by hitting the reset button. That restarted the whole unit and reset all the settings as well, but now I'm not having any issues with ejecting CDs.
