Re: monitor has no power or wont turn on
Yes, there are replaceable parts inside, however, the question is can it be fixed economically. If this was supposed to be working I would return it as fast as you can. If not then it could be your logic board ($80 approx) or your external power supply ($25 approx). If you decide to pursue this take proper precautions to protect yourself and the monitor components. You can try replacing the inverter and hope that the problem is not in the backlight assemblies. You need the test lamps to verify the function of the inverter board. Do you get steady 20vdc feeding the inverter. You can also try heating up the two black electrolytic caps on the inverter board to see if the inverter will fire up using hair dryer, when bad caps with high ESR are heat up the ESR will go down.
Although this site does not list the 2001fp speciffically it was very helpfull for me to learn about caps on power supply boards. Follow the steps of the "tutor" at the bottom of the page (after the testamonials) and its pretty straight forward.
I have a dell ultrasharp and at first it would not come on at all. Open it up and found loose connection on plug connectors 3 pin. Soldered and would come up but blinks in and out sometimes take longer than other times. Big Capacitor when open up Power supply was leaky. Check for bad caps
