Hp pavilion wont switch on

You can try a new "on" switch. or swap the Reset switch and the pwr switch over to see if the power switch has failed.

no there is no reset button the only thing u can do is take out the battery and unplug ur power supply ...if that dont work call hp if u under warranty they will fix it.

your motherboard in the laptop has failed... sorry :(

Check the charger is throwing out the correct voltage at the DC jack
Do you get any lights flashing at the charger? If you do it indicates that power is not completing the circuit and is being "spat back". This would indicate a damaged charging circuit or possibly a loose power jack socket, if it feels loose as you plug it in, you may need to change the DC socket

1. Check your power cord & adapter.
2. If its working then check the battery, reseat the battery & check.
3. If available then check with another battery
4. If no, then remove the battery & switch on the PC in AC mode.
5. Check if battery charging indication or AC power on indication is glowing. if not then need to change ur motherboard.
6. If indication is OK, but could not power ON then check ur RAM for any loose connection or dust. clean & reinstall.
7. If still no display, connect an external monitor, check if display is comming.
8. If Display is coming then your LCD is faulty and need to replace.

What you would want to try is to remove the battery and see if pluging in the power cord will power the laptop alone. All laptops have this capability and this shouldnt be an issue.

But by testing this and seeing if it DOESN'T work then that means there could be one of two things. Your AC power adapter is defective and should be replaced with one that is compatible with your system or that your connection jack is either loose on the inside or broken completely.

However I would stick with trying the cord first before trying to resoder the joint inside the system. I'd leave that to a pro, going back to the battery if you leave it out for a day that should give it plenty of time to discharge any energy it may have in it and you can plug it back into the laptop to try and charge it again either with the same AC power adapter or a new one. If the battery wont hold a charge and you know it isn't because the jack is loose or the AC power adapter isnt defective then you now know you need to replace the battery. You can google compatible batteries and power adapters online or search specific places like Newegg.com or Amazon.

Sounds like a power supply failing. If nothing was done to it other than the above stated, more than likely a weak PSU (Power Supply Unit).

ok it sounds like your battery was damaged when it discharged. try removing the battery and plug in to wall socket. boot computer ,.. if it boots up completely then you will need to replace your battery

try to turn on the laptop without the battery and only the power cord plug in.

if your laptop works with this you need new battery or update bios ( there might be fix for battery monitor)

if not, call service support, might be motherboard issue
