I have an MSI KM3M-V mainboard for a couple of years and all of a sudden the ps/2 keyboard port has stopped working. The ps/2 mouse port works fine. I reset the bios and dusted off the board but to no avail. The board has never given me any trouble before.

Re:
Slim, Other than saying well it was a good couple years for the board lets just verify: Have you tried a different keyboard? Check device manager and see if you uninstall the keyboard and then reinstall it.
Or have you recently installed any new devices that may have taken the resources away from the keyboard plug? If not get a usb keyboard and make sure you info is backed up...just in case.
Good Luck,
Tim

You're "stuck" -- if the circuitry for the PS/2 keyboard and mouse is not working, and if it does not recognize a USB keyboard, the motherboard must be replaced (by an identical moetherboard, if you can find one, or a "newer/better" motherboard that takes the same CPU and RAM as your current motherboard).
Is this a USB or PS/2 keyboard? If it is a PS/2 then the port that is integrated on the board is not working. If it is a USB, try plugging it into another USB port and see if it will work. If it does not work on either port then the ports on the system board are not working. It means u're having some malfunctions on the system board itself.
If it is a USB keyboard and it is that the USB ports integrated on the system board are not working, buy and install a PCI card with USB ports. It should work then.
1. Go to: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloadindex 2. In the section labeled "OR Type 2.Manually Download", select "Mainboard" from the first drop-down menu. 3. Select "AMD Platform" from the second drop-down menu. 4. Select "Socket A" from the third drop-down menu. 5. Select "VIA" from the fourth drop-down menu. 6. Select "VIA ProSavageDDR KM266" from the fifth drop-down menu. 7. Select "KM3M-V" from the sixth drop-down menu. This will bring you to a page having all the specs of your motherboard.
none of the cards u enumerated have on board video (don't know about the last one
