Hp pavilion dt3420.it when i start the pc monitor still always black, no acustic sound and no spie leds on. is a processor problem or motherboard problem? when i turn on the pc, on keyboard three led get...

Hi,
That sounds like a Mother board problem.
Try this, when you turned the computer on, press F8 don't let until the bios shows.
If the bios did not shows up, problem would be........
  • Check the processor, replace w/ similar one.
  • Check the power supply unit, if you have a spare one, use it just to check the system.
  • Check the processor seat pins( where the processor sits ) pins might have burned.

Hope that helps you out!

Your BIOS is hosed. This could mean that your BIOS chip has simply failed, or that an attempt to
update BIOS failed, or that a pernicious virus has erased part of your BIOS EPROM chip.
Fix: replace BIOS chip - its a physical EPROM chip on the motherboard.
Why this is nearly impossible for the experienced home electronics buff: modern PC boards,
especially those used in laptops/notebooks/pad computers, where space is tight, are
wave-soldered, and virtually impossible to work on - for even the experienced hobbyist.
Your only hope: the BIOS chip is SOCKETED, and can therefore be unplugged (using, of
course, proper anti-static techniques), and replaced. But IC chips sockets are virtually unknown
in laptop/notebook/pad/cell phone construction.

Trying to upgrade a Compaq SR1020NX computer. The HP website still has old info, likely based on the original bios. The motherboard is an Asus A8M2N-LA. What CPU upgrades will run on that board? Is there...

Processor Upgrade

did you reset the bios first. ? (id pull the coin cell)
you did all that backwards , the steps are.
1: read the HP service guide see all processors supported.
its a short list. its not like changing light bulbs.
2: the BIOS must support that precessor too.
3: the upgrade if possible , SEE?

d530 SFF, is a small form factor desktop.
it came with
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
my guess is you want the 3.3mHz version. ( a wasted effort and cash in my opinion the ,it is only fractionally faster, (go for 2 or 4 cores and win)
these old PC are mostly NOW scrapped, gone, nobody wants them.
for good reasons. (no support and no parts, and slow as slug)
worse is it runs XP the dead, now, virus magnet.
support at HP says.

HP COmpaq EVO Business D530

circa 2003, 14 years young?
some sold with Windows 2000. ! ouch and Mandrake 9.1 Linux - Light and OS/2...
specs. that matter
Intel 865G Chipset
800-MHz, 533-MHz or 400-MHz FSB (front side bus limits)
and the memory must match it. speed wise.

the parts surfer (HP ) shows it cam with 17 processor options.
sold newer, the full p/n in the service tag tells this.. not told by you.
some Celeron and other P4s.

the fastest one is, (HP P/N#)

335813-001

Intel Pentium 4 processor - 3.20GHz (Northwood with Hyper-Threading, 800MHz front side bus, 512KB L2 cache, FCPGA2, Socket 478)

the problem with that is the BIOS, many times the newer faster
the hp support page is active.
the last BIOS update is for just this, processors

eg: BIOS 109
Updates Intel Pentium 4 Processor microcode for F41, F34, F29 and F49 steppings. (cupid app shows this)

getting the BIOS correct first is hard.. due to variances, in mobo

lession1:
when PC boots, the BIOS scans many thing but CPU is #1
it scans it to see if it recognizes, it.
if it can not do that, (not in its old 2003 list) then it defaults to slowest CPU support, what else can it do?
the it sets up clock rates properly, this is super basics in PCs.
Then it scans the memory sticks to see if they can run at this clock rate, if not it goes to slow speeds. (what else can it do ?)
it will go to the slowest ram stick inserted. speeds.
or to slowest processors you have actual.

that is all.

HP Compaq d530

it all depends on the number of flashes , pause, repeat.
Since the problem did not indicate any beeps her is the following info

Power LED blinks RED 2 times, one every second, followed by a
2-second pause. = Processor Thermal Protection Activated

3 blinks 1 second apart = Processor not installed (not an indicator for a bad processor).

4 blinks 1 second apart .= Power Failure (power supply is overloaded)

Other possibilities are:
5 blinks 1 second apart No memory
6 blinks 1 second apart No graphics
7 blinks 1 second apart System board failure (detected prior to video)
8 blinks 1 second apart Invalid ROM
