Question about Heating & Cooling
I have an older freestanding firplace and also a fireplace insert from the early1990's and need instructions on how to light them for the new purchaser of the house. The freestanding lights in reverse of the insert. Please help with the lighting of the Insta-flame models FSDV30 and FS30 as well as an Insta-flame gas insert from the same time.
Google make and model number you should find a manual you can down load in a pdf .

SOURCE: Need Instructions to use Fireplace Gas Logs
There should be a set of metal cards attached inside the fireplace.
First you should read everything there.
I know you have to first light the pilot light.
And then there should be a wall switch.
The problem I have currently is that it won't stay lit when the artificial logs are there.

Remove the small copper colores tubing going from the gas valve to the pilot assembly. Take it to a good hardware store that sells heaters and ask them for a new one.It is called a thermocouple.

sounds as though you need to get the thermocouple(copper wire that sits in the pilot flame) replaced, check first to make sure it is tight at the gas valve end, as they can loosen over time due to expansion and contraction.
