Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3
When that happened to me all i did was went to:
and make sure u are under the right network, cuz it resets itself sometimes or your provider doesnt have a strong signal might have to choose another network.
example: i have tmobile but had to use cingular cuz of a stronger signal.

I think it seems that your SIM Card Board has some failed pins. I think you need to replace your SIM board and it may help to resolve the issue. You may need to take the main board out and if I am not wrong that i have fixed this issue before you need to use the soldering gun to remove the defective one and put the new one back. This isuuse was very common on every V3 models when you used them for a while specially, you keep removing the SIM card in and out. I hope this will help you some ideas. If you have tried all these ways and it is still not solve your problem, I believe, your Main Board has defective and need to be replaced. V3 has these common defective as I have fixed so far bunch of them.

I have had this problem (brand new phone, very old sim card) try putting a small piece of card on top of the sim and re-insert - seems to improve the contacts

Put another sim card and see, if it works there is nothing wrong in handset. No need change software.Or try by putting your sim in another phone.I dont think anything wrong in handset
