Pulsating Noise from Kenmore Quiteguard Dishwasher

New construction home owned since 9/2007 and in the past month our dishwasher has been making a loud pulsating grinding sound during the wash cycle. When I open the door there is no water in the washer. After shutting it the noise stops and I can hear water entering into the machine followed by a short wash cycle before it drains and grinds again. seems to happen two or three times during each wash. Looking for a possible fix before I call out a repair person

SOURCE: kenmore dishwasher has loud noise during fill.

This isn't a solution but rather a comment, if the problem is happening only during the fill, then it could be the water inlet valve. Perhaps there is a soliniod going in the valve, watch to see if the fill cycle starts to dimminish over time. Does the sound come anytime the washer fills, ie: rinse cycle? if so I would replace the valve, probably 50 dollars would get you a new one and you can do it yourself to save a little more cash. good luck.

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultrawash Quiet Guard 5 making buzzing/grinding noise

I have a very similar dishwasher, with a very similar problem. I fixed it by removing debris from the water evacuator pump located towards the front of the bottom of the machine (the last motor before the drain hose. In my case, grape stems had clogged it up. Once emptied, it purrs once again. NOTE: don't disassemble the motor, just flush it out, there is an o-ring gasket that is a bear to re-install.

Kenmore Elite 137889, grinding noise

If the noise is like a shaking of rattling , like coins being shaked , then it is an object trapped inside the tub.

If instead the noise is a loud grinding , that may get louder on high speed, then it is usually a bad drum bearing.

The drum bearing is replaced by accessing the bottom side of the washer, and is a not a simple repair.

Loud clanking noise in dishwasher

Most likely the motor as food caught in the sump would not make a noise you described.

Noise, Noise, NOISE

Barring an actual cat being inside the dishwasher, I would surmise that the motor bearings are starved for lubricant, which is something that is not normally done. Sounds like its time for a new dishwasher

Dishwasher motor crapout

The dishwasher says kenmore but it is made by whirlpool or frigidaire. If the cost of repair exceed 2/3rds of the cost of a new one it would be best to replace it. Whirlpool makes good models. Their line of kitchenaid seem to be the quietest.
