Flashing red light and shutting itself off

Philips 55PL9223/17 55inch Lcos rear projection. Only 2 years old, but out of warranty. When I turn on the tv, the amber light on the front glows, until it warms up (about 30 sec.) then turns green when it turns on. The front panel light will then start flashing red, and the tv will shut itself down. (protection mode?) I sometimes can unplug the tv, and let it reset itself, and then it will start all over again. Sometimes it will work for a day or so, and sometimes it will only last for a few minutes. I cleaned the filters on the bottom, but it did not help. It did not come with a stand, but sits on a flat wood stand, so I don't think I am blocking the two air vents. And I have it far from the wall so that would not be a problem. Since it is out of warranty, and there is not a Philips authorized repair center within a hundred miles of me, I am starting to wonder if I should just junk it and buy a new one. (Not a Philips model this time.) Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Actually, I was able to fix mine! It turned out it was some dust inside the TV. I just had to vacuum it out. There wasn't hardly any visible dust in there, but I decided to try as a last ditch effort. Did it about a month ago and haven't had any problems since... Just take out the 15 or so screws for the lower cover part on the back of the TV and vacuum it out carefully...

No picture, siren type noise as restarting

My Toshiba dlp 62hm116 was used for 3 months then stored for 2 years, I turned it on yesterday and it makes a loud grinding noise which I think is probably from the exhaust fan area and the picture is black except white at both vertical sides. It worked fine the last time I used it 2 years ago. Any ideas?

My panasonic lifi tv starts flashing green then the red light flashes red all the time now.

If the light is flashing 2x and pausing and repeating you probably need a new lamp.Panasonic has extended the warranty on the labor for the lam p to 3 years due to difficult replacement.Call Panasonic customer service and they will refer you to the nearest service center. The lamp itself is covered for 5 years.

Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on

That blinking led is an error code for the audio standby board in the set. It should not go out this soon and yes it should last longer.
