Question about Samsung SyncMaster 930B 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor
Does anyone know why a monitor would suddenly develop thin yellow vertical lines on just half of the screen? I reinstalled an updated driver, but no effect. I have asked a friend to bring over his monitor so I can check if it may be the video card or something internal. There is nothing magnetic near it and it has suffered no traumas. H E L P
It is not the monitor it is the graphics card

My monitor Samsung syncMaster920N have the same problem. The left half either goes black or a batch of different color band grouped together and keeps changing colors. One mechanic changed the board inside and the problem disappeared for two months and it is back again. He says the LCD panels are not capable of handling high resolution PC games. The problem is ,it is erratic making it hard to find the source of the problem.Any suggestions? Vertical lines are typical of LCD panels that have failed. I would certainly try the monitor on another machine; however, if the problem follows the monitor this is probably going to require some repair work. Unless you have the tools and skills to work on fairly delicate and potentially dangerous components this will be a job for an authorized repair shop. This is surelly a internal failure in the LCD monitor. one of these 2 problems occured. Both of them will however require some profesional service repairs (if they even are possible) 1. You may have a faulty connection between the main board of the display and the LCD pannel. Even if only one wire or one singe pin isn't connected properly the results are pretty spectacular (weird lines on the display, lack of image or weird patterns appearing and so on) 2. The video controller chipset on the mainboard (inside the monitor) is broken and needs to be replaced (however it is a small chance you will find a replacement). I'm sorry if this isn't helpfull but the nature of the problem makes the diagnostic easy but the solving of this problem pretty hard. Good luck.
