Slant/Fin 211D error message

The error message ER3 is continuously showing. This error message goes on about 2 minutes after unit is running on a full tank and stays on. It doesn't allow me to adjust the humidity level. There is nothing in the manual that addresses this. If I unplug and begin again, the same thing happens. This unit is 1 week old. Can you help? Thanks.

    Same exact problem as described above. Unit less than one week old. Filled tank, and get ER3 message. Nothing in book mentions this sign nor what to do about it....

    Same exact problem -just bought model GF-211D about a month ago and almost right away, "Er 3" started showing up in window and I can't adjust humidity. I called Slant Fin customer service just now and was told that the company only recently acquired this humidifier line and that they were stumped too -they never heard of "Er 3" and have no idea what it means. The company representative on the phone suggested that I return the unit for replacement. She told me it has a 3 year warranty and the warranty does not require any registration. What to do? Sending it back would be a nusiance and the humidifier unit does seem to be making humidity. If the company itself has no clue about the problem, how good will the replacement unit be??

    Nice humidifier, but I have the same problem. It does seem to humidy and clean easier than older models, but sure should not have an er3 message after only a week of use.

    I have the same Er3 error message and cannot find anything about how to fix it. I've had this humidifier for about a week. Very disappointing. If anyone knows how to fix it, please let us know!

We had this problem and could not make it go away by refilling, jiggling the float and so on. All the controls appeared frozen during this time.

But unplugging the humidifier for 5 minutes and plugging it back in seems to have fixed it -- no ER3 message now (fingers crossed!0.

Slant fin doesnt turn on

In the bottom of the humidifier is a little disk that vibrates to turn water to vapor. This gets covered in mineral deposits and won't vibrate properly. They usually suggest something like vinegar to clean it. I found that this didn't work for me. What did work was cleaning it with my Waterpic on the highest setting. It chipped away the deposits and allowed it to work. HOWEVER, once you get it running again, buy the slant fin mineral absorption pads to keep it running. If you have mineral-rich water like me, you'll go through them quickly, but you also won't have white deposits on your walls anymore.

No instruction manual

FILLING THE WATER TANKS
1. Before filling the water tanks, push the POWER switch to the “OFF” position and
unplug unit. Refer to cleaning instructions.
2. Remove water tanks from base, turn each tank upside down and remove tank cap
by turning counterclockwise. Fill tank with clean cold tap water.
Replace the tank cap by turning clockwise. Tighten firmly.
3. Carefully pick up tank, since it will be heavy when full, and slippery if wet.
4. Place water tanks on base. Make sure tanks are properly placed, otherwise, the
humidifier will not work correctly.

Humidifier says reserve tank is empty when it's not.

With this model it has not only been discontinued and difficult to find repair and replacement parts. I would suggest a new product. I wish that even in theses times I had more encourageing news because most of the time if its broke fix it..but this time, It's time to go shopping, also the company has sold twice, and now goes under two sub names. Humidifier's reset light flashes on and off

Most likely it is the water sensing transistor (C1815) in the unit. This can be replaced but it would have to be by someone who knows how to repair electronic instruments. The cross for the C1815 transistor is NTE85 and sells for about $1.50.

Er3--is this an error message?

This sounds like the float switch may be stuck - giving an error message - usually these are not too hard to unstick - it is often a cleaning issue - the manual should show you where the float switch is and how to check it, but if the error message is not listed in the manual, if you are sure it is the correct manual then I would expect it to be a technicians job, else they would list the error message.
